Fake a pregnancy, steal a baby and then leave it outdoors in a plastic tub in the freezing cold. Words can not describe what a complete piece of shiat this woman is.

When I was in the hospital after having my son, I thought the nurses were going overboard in ensuring that our son stayed in our hospital room with trusted adults. There were a lot of rules: his crib had to be placed in such a way that my hospital bed was between it and the door; every single guest was stopped and required to show ID when entering and leaving the maternity ward; he couldn't be carried in the hallway if we took a walk, but rather pushed in the hospital crib; and, of course, the GPS anklet with matching bracelets for his dad and me.

After reading this article, though, I take back my grumbling about the nurses' over-exuberance.

Or, as her attorney will attempt to argue, she was suffering from a hormonal onslaught giving her an overwhelming maternal urge.  Then when she came to her senses, she was sure the baby had stopped breathing and was dead.  In her disassociated state, she was convinced that by leaving the child in a plastic container, she took steps to ensure the baby's corpse wouldn't be disturbed by wild animals.  Then she took off where she was contemplating killing herself because she was overcome by guilt and grief.  This lady had the best of intentions in trying to be a good mother and she really needs mental and emotional counseling, not revenge from a misunderstanding public.

I don't know, you seem to have gotten the main themes pretty clearly put together. And with an economy of words at that. Well done.

All the adults in the family have different last names. Luckily the baby took on one of them.

Baby's name is Kayden and it's a boy.
If she was going to give him a better name, I couldn't convict her.

I'm not normally a huge fan of babies...but that is one cute baby.

I cannot fathom how anyone could leave a baby in freezing conditions overnight. And if you're mentally ill where you just have some psychosis where you NEED a kid...I don't see how they could harm that child.

Whenever I see shiat like this, where they hurt someone or put someone in danger (or risk serious injury to the child) it's not that wonky material psychosis, but rather some really farked up selfish person who wants a *thing* for their own ends. It seems like often they're faking a pregnancy to keep a guy around, or for other reasons.

Ugh. Thank goodness that baby was okay, no thanks to her.

"Could you pass the salad please?"
"What if I don't? Are you going to kidnap the salad in the middle of the night?"
"Oh god, not this again."
"I'm sorry, is there a statute of limitations on that? I mean, I could fake knowing about it, but we all know how that turns out."
"It was one time. One time! Now can I please get some of your @#^#y arse arugula salad or not?"

That you think it's in their 'belly' is probably why you also think it's a babby.

What?

The baby was found just a few miles away from where I live. The local news has been covering this story nonstop since then.
I'm just glad the kid was still alive, when I first heard about it after they'd arrested her but before they'd found the baby I was sure the thing was frozen to death somewhere.

The baby must have been completely covered by something, or just breathing that cold air all night would've probably killed him I think. I can't believe he survived it, let alone without ill effects.

Just saying.  Not that it makes the story any less awful, but I bet she was completely convinced in her own deranged mind that the baby was "hers".  Abandoning it seems odd but once you are capable of stealing a baby, who the hell knows how deep your delusions go?

Fortunately for this case, infants have an amazing ability to survive the cold unscathed.

Yeah, sister is shiat, especially for leaving baby in extreme cold and making an anonymous call to let someone know where he was, but I'm going to give her a couple of points on the good side for waiting until the kid was born, instead of cutting him out of sis's stomach.

there should be an extra 5 years jailtime attached to any crime so blatantly influenced by a movie or tv show... Somebody clearly was watching the first season of Glee when they hatched this crackpot scheme.

You know that insanity defenses means that you are locked away indefinitely, right? It's not a regular sentence where you only have a set time, and you don't get to walk free.

Au contraire, mon frère.

When the confined is declared back in control of her senses, they are set free.  Besides, where did I mention her attorney might argue she was not guilty due to insanity?  I merely constructed a chain of events which would provide reasonable doubt as to her knowingly killing the child.
