One hour later, the client wanted more proteins and minerals.

Perhaps the roach was a close personal friend of the owner's?

Lucky day! Find lucky cockroach! Free drinks!

An Asian merchant will give you absolutely anything but your money back.

(If anybody asks if I said that, tell them it was Peter Russell. He can have the line. It's free!)

Not-so-CSB, a chinese joint I regularly ate at was shut down for having a higher-than-permissible amount of rat droppings in its food. Hard to say which is worse, that I'd eaten there regularly or that authorities have determined a permissible amount of rat droppings in restaurant cuisine.

According to the last inspection report posted on the Jefferson County Health Department website, Good Friends Chinese & Seafood received a 91 health rating in August 2013.

Now they have a 911 rating.

Of all the restaurant ceilings I've opened up over the last 25 years, only once have I had it rain down hundreds of cockroaches on my head.

It wasn't a Chinese restaurant though.

/It was Vietnamese

Democratic State Representative switches to GOP
Updated:
An Alabama Demon politician has joined the Republican Party. Democratic Representative Charles Newton of Greenville announced his decision to switch to the Republican Party

I always thought there was a hellmouth in Alabama somewhere.

Don't worry. They also inspect canned goods and frozen foods and have limits for the number and quantity of bug parts, etc.

And if you think fresh produce is bug free, well I have one word for you:  broccoli.  There's all kinds of birds and squirrels in those tiny, tiny trees.

I like to eat dulse once in a while. It is a purple seaweed that is collected by hand and dried. It is used in the food industry as an emulsifier and gelling agent. You can make a gelatinous pie with it as they do in Prince Edward Island. Sort of like grasshopper pie only with seaweed instead of fake sugary marsh mallow.

When I eat this I open out all the dried leaves and find sand and tiny seashells and also the occasional tiny starfish. You can make a miniature beach with them. It's fun to pick the free prizes out of a bag of seaweed snack.

You know how the old saying goes:  you have to eat a peck of dirt before you die.

And you may swallow a peck of spiders while you snore.

Life is messy. Get used to it! Some Americans are obsessed with hygiene and purity. They're even afraid they might be touched by a poor person or what is much the same thing in their minds, a non-white, pariah caste person. Funny, Indians from India are afraid of the same thing but they use products that holy men make out of urine and dung from cattle and elephants. Then again, rich white women rub that crap on their face in the name of youth and beauty.

Did you know you can make paper from elephant dung? I've seen it!

Oh, well. I should be reading my new book on things we ought to be worrying about.

Worry is like hypochondria:  nothing like a fatal disease to cure you of it.

Older Asian people can be real assholes when it comes to customer service. Everything is 'your fault' and they are correct no matter what. Younger Asians are great and fine...but old school Asians can be really assholes for everything for any complaints or customer service issue. In the 80's it was almost a gag thing to go a certain Chinese resturant and be abused by the owner.

/except the old school Japaneese they're pretty cool.

The fact that this happened in that particular part of Birmingham is not at all surprising to me, sadly.
