They have cameras inside movie theaters now? Well, so much for sneaking a beej in the back row.

Whatever, Here's the take-away:
The f*cker couldn't even get bail in THE stand your ground state.  As a former cop.

I can't ascertain anything useful from that video.

Looks like the victim tossed a popcorn bag at the old man who then shot the victim.

If defending yourself with a gun against somebody throwing popcorn is self defense, that means any little kid in movie theaters is a valid target.

Yes, to look for people who are recording the movie on a video camera or cell phone. It's not a new thing.

What are you , some kind of defense lawyer?

Maybe his counsel will use a variant of the defense that murderer kid in Texas used -- because he had always been able to boss people around, he never learned to not boss people around.

I think in the thread where this first broke some people were trying to excuse his cold blooded murder as some kind of mental impairment. I didn't buy it then... I don't buy it now. I think he's just a cold blooded murderer who thought he could get away with it.

With hope... he thought wrong.

Pretty quick reflexes for a 71 year old man. I think he already made the decision to at least brandish the gun in the younger guy's face to scare him and shot him instead.

I also think the old guy is in the early stages of dementia. Inappropriate anger is one of the signs.

The old guy overreacted and took a man's life over getting pissed off and saying something about the victim using his cell phone before the movie started.

No winners here, but it probably shouldn't have cost the idiot cell phone user his life. Basically a road rage incident, translated into the theater. Two morons escalating their anger over something simple stupid small.

My take-away is the old guy saying "I'm 71 years old..." - he was basically admitting that he didn't care enough to be concerned that he was going to potentially take a life when he drew his gun.

The thing that cracks me up about Zimmerman is how people were so scared some angry armed psycho would gun him down in the street. Still alive and well though.

The guy will never be a texting asshole in a theater again, so there's that.

What this society lacks is a whole lot of, "Oops!  You're right.  I farked up.  Sorry."

The asshole probably DID deserve to be shot, based on the video.  If you look closely, he lunged over the seat, grabbed the guy's popcorn, threw it at him, all while probably yelling at the guy.  The popcorn throw was probably followed by him raring back to do more, had the old guy not shot him.

We'll never know, but the entire incident could have been avoided if the asshole had just had a little bit of respect for other people around him and just apologized.  "I'm sorry.  I was just letting the babysitter know the movie was starting.  Phone is off and headed into my pocket."

The punk shouldn't have messed with a retired cop.  Once a cop, always a cop.  The combat reflexes just kicked in.

You're not allowed to use your phone in the movie theater. Period. He doesn't get an exemption because he was texting his precious snowflake.

I'll bet the defense will find some stuff on that phone that proves the deceased criminal wasn't the innocent angel the lie-beral media is making him out to be.

And then somebody else can shoot you cause they are armed and you would pose a very valid threat what with you shooting kids and all. It'll be a regular death race in the skies. Whoever gets off the flights alive gets to split the luggage.
Only really anti social people would pack light then.

Old ex-cop with a beef about cell phones users in general decided to be a asshole to a guy using his cellphone before the movie started.  Guy rightly tells the old farker to go take his geritol and stfu.  Old man decides to commit premeditated murder by leaving to get a gun and returns to commit the crime first by winding up the guy as only a psychopath can.  Old fart utterly shocked cops arrest him even after he told them he was a retired cop.  Thinking in my day we would have just threw a gun down and ignored the witnesses.  Not knowing that it was all on video.  I'm sure he has a problem with cameras to.  fark him, convict him, and sue him in court for some compensation for that kid he left without a father.  May he rot in jail getting that personal attention only a ex cop can command.

fark you.  The previews are the BEST PART.

They come on LONG after the "turn off your farking cell phones or GTFO" message plays repeatedly.

If I owned a theater, I'm pretty sure I could charge a lot more per ticket, sell drinks and popcorn for much less ($5 for a drink and popcorn of reasonable size e.g. what you get at Target's snack bar), and have a VERY strict behavior policy.  I'd have assholes actively escorted out of the theater and banned for life if they become a repeat annoyance.  People would flock to my theater because my staff would actually CARE.

0/10 all around. Even a troll like you can't believe using a cell in a theater is worth getting killed over, unless you're a psycho like the guy from the article, in which case you should be put away. As for what you said about the media, we DO have presumption of innocence here. You're either the world's worst troll, or human garbage. Either way, fark off.
