46 and 2

This.  They're going to have a hard time topping that one.

Pssssh. Whatevs. I can play the stereo better than any of them.

"Hallowed Be Thy Name" would really stretch that singers vocal chops. And I bet he could do it. Or exhaust him with "Rime of the Ancient Mariner".

Nice on Liveleakk stealing the original vid then someone snagging it off of Liveleak when the original is on the Aaron Okeefe channel in better quality

46 and 2 by those kids is unreal. I will point out that it has the same rhythm section playing in it as this video.

FlashHarry: nice! the little mistakes are nice, too. you can tell that it's really them and that they're not just miming.

just because their parents didn't plan to have them doesn't mean they're mistakes.

The girl singer in that is 12yo Kala Scarpinksi who is quite good in that and also in the studio recording
Dream Theater - Pull Me Under (Cover)

you can also find other live recordings of her where she has much less control over her voice and/or tends to shriek.

I watched a bunch of the aaronokeefe studio recordings and wonder how many takes were involved and how separately the tracks were recorded. In some video segments I noticed a musician's actions not corresponding exactly to the music meaning the video came from a non final take.

You can spare at least 5 minutes every day you lazy farkers.

Well done. Though the bassist is picking. Steve Harris would not be amused.

Their Forty-six & 2 cover is amazing.

Speaking of incredibly talented youngsters, this kid was 16 when this video was made.  I think I saw it on Fark when it first came out several years ago.

That was great! Those kids are amazing. I want to be their fan.

Excellent. But what kind of band camp are they in? I will have to google later. But I would have killed to have been able to play around with all that pro level equipment. Now I am not knocking the kids or their skill but studio magic is a well known term. I would like to hear them live.

It looks like they are on the right track. It reminds me of this quote:

I don't care if he uses a pick or not, that bassist is damn good
2014-02-08 09:48:56 AM
That was farking awesome.  Love that the youngsters know about classic Maiden, even more that they're playing it well.

The "Children of the Damned" acoustic at the end was good too, would like to hear them do a full cover of that.

I play finger style electric bass.

It ain't easy.

Trying to copy Steve Harris bass finger style is VERY hard on the plucking fingers.
I don't blame a kid for using a plectrum.

Bass fact:   Harris strings his basses with flatwound strings. He has to. Roundwounds would tear the ends of his fingers off otherwise because of how he plays.

Dave's not wrong, but the other issue is, the same kids expect to be instant stars - they should get a trophy from Mommy and a recording contract for just 'trying' once - hence the reason they line up at American Idol.  Takes actual work to play instruments and write songs.  Much easier to just sing someone else's song.   That's why the musician pool is dwindling.

/good on these kids
//let's have some originals from them too

darch: Interesting factoid-

'Arry only uses two fingers to do all that galloping. Unreal.

It's not that difficult to do. However, maintaining speed and accuracy beyond a few minutes of playing is damn difficult. He has crazy forearm strength and endurance. I can't play more than a few minutes of "Caught Somewhere In Time" on bass fingerstyle before my forearm catches fire. Of course, I could use a pick but that's sorta like cheating.

holy farking sh*t.

Holy crap, those are some talented kids.

Savage Bacon: That Corey Feldman look-alike of a guitarist is gonna be gettin' soooo much trim.

/that is, if he's not getting it already
//which he most likely is

Corey Feldman was my first thought, too. Still, it was done better than the Red Barchetta we old farts knocked out last night.

Way awesome...!

For those in this thread wanting to learn...

I too wanted/am wanting to learn to play guitar.

I picked up Rocksmith 2014 and a Schecter guitar and have learned more about playing guitar than I had ever known...

Still can't play a real full song but i am learning about fretwork, movement on the board, and proper technique. I haven't played in a few weeks (changed my work hours and when i get home late I'm tired blah blah bs excuses) and have been distracted by kerbal space program, but when i play, i really play the guitar... give it a shot, the worst thing that can happen is you don't try and you'll always wonder...
