Eddie Adams from Torrance: scarmig: Yeah.  Inter-species milk consumption is *so* disgusting.

Ice cream anyone?

I'll give you $5.00 if you drink it directly from the cow.

No problem.  But you're paying your own travel expenses.

Don't it a few times, goats too. Can I have $5.00 now?

It doesn't count if it's foreplay.

downstairs: MadMonk: saved it's life, so what the hell....why not.

Yeah, agreed.  I think its weird that the puppy wouldn't drink from a bottle but would from a breast.  Isn't a bottle supposed to essentially simulate a nipple?

Maybe the bottle didn't smell right? Happens sometimes.

skozlaw: "I'm more concerned about zoonotic diseases because there are things that can be passed from puppies to babies," Dr. Williams said.

I wonder how much additional risk there really is of a breast-feeding baby catching such a disease in this sort of scenario versus simply living with a puppy. I'd bet not a whole lot.

Hmm, so we have a doctor's opinion and then your bet.  I'm torn here.

The doctor didn't specify which diseases and what the vectors of transmission for those diseases are. If it's by saliva, which is logical, then you would have to admit that a puppy licking a baby's face (known to happen) is just as likely to transmit diseases as a baby sucking a nipple previously sucked by the same puppy. It is a legitimate point as to whether or not living proximity to a puppy provides the same risk of infection as puppy/baby nipple sharing.

some_beer_drinker: if i was a chick, i would let a puppy lick my titties. is that wrong, should i not hypothetically allow that?

Excuse me, but do you not have nipples?

A kitten would be better--those little scratchy tongues.  hmmm

You would think a vet might also be considering that the family intended to live with the puppy.

FTA: "He just wasn't taking it.  I didn't know what else to do, I was desperate and I just couldn't bear sitting there watching it die," the woman said.  "Literally what clicked in my head was like, put him on you, just pray to God he will take something and not die."

Ok I get that much maybe BUT where did that thought derail into thinking it was cause for a photo op as well?

trappedspirit: we have a doctor's opinion

Yea, except you don't. You have a veterinarian who made a vague comment without any quantification. Lots of people have dogs and babies, and dogs slobber on and chew lots of things babies can get hold of or are in the vicinity of. Seems like if there were really any concern about the titty, maybe people should be concerned about other things like chew toys and food bowls too, hm?

A veterinarian is not a doctor?  Yeah, I'm just going to stick with my first reaction.

So?
Pictures of puppies *sleeping* on boobs are probably also called adorable or something similar on the internet.

So that'd be the equivalent of a weird comment about saving the puppy and then something like one of these:
img.pandawhale.com1.bp.blogspot.com

Though, even if the cat/dog picture had been an equivalent, it shouldn't be surprising that people have different standards for people and animals.
Dogs eat poop without being dragged to a psych facility.  People usually wear clothes in public.  Animals usually don't.
