The house is awesome.

In all honesty though, the attic kind of sucks.

Those ejector seats better go out sideways because if they go up, I don't see any movable panels and you're gonna bump your noggin on the way out.

That is my reaction. The house and property are beautiful. The imaginary spacecraft cockpit with 90's era computer monitors and and 60's era electrical bits is kind of a let down.

Is this a story sourced from Huffington Post or is it just an article about a story that appears elsewhere?  I hate clicking Huffington Post links that are just summaries of another organization's story.

For less than the $5mil that thing costs, you could have this instead, which far exceeds "shiatty star trek set in the attic" on the axis of want.

6-unit luxury condo complex included.

Or this one

I've been idly looking at pit builds lately, half-assedly wondering if I want to invest the time and effort to get back into flight sims. Probably not, the financial cost is way too much.

Ya got to wonder what that damn "spaceship" is for. Sure it looks good but if I can't use Kerbal, Artemis, or some other space simulator on it it's nothing but a kids playset.

Yeah, because nothing says "throwing good money after bad" quite like "buying an island barely above sea level, only to watch it go under in the next couple of decades as sea levels continue to rise..."

When I was in college, during the cold and drizzly Washington winters, I would stare at that site like it was pornography.

I still can't afford one.

Wanna know what that setup was for? The last owners used it for their sci fi sex games. I'd wipe it down really well before you let the kids play in there. Rich people are weird.

That's pretty cool, I'm sure little kids/tweeners would have a riot in there.

It shouldn't be interesting to anyone older than 13.  What the fark are you going to do in there unless you have serious maturity issues/are retarded.

...why do they have a child height water fountain in the bathroom?  Is that like a European thing?  When ever I'm over there I see them all the time, I mean sure I've taken advantage of them a few times but really you should put them outside of the bathroom so its more hygienic.

To be fair, that was near the state of the art in human spaceflight until a few years ago.

A spaceship in the kind of 80's Dr Who kind of way (look at those dinky CRT monitors). And those "ejection seats" look more like they were salvaged out of an '85 Datsun.

Not to mention if those were ejection seats, either the roof blows off or your skull will meet unfriendly bits of aluminum

Lister: "The water is only 3 feet deep. They can wade. That's why the animals are gonna have to be quite tall."

Rimmer: "Nice plan, Lister. Excellent plan! Brilliant plan, Lister! What about the sheep? What are you going to do, buy them water-wings? Fit them with stilts? Better still, you could cross-breed them with dolphins and have leaping mutton. Baa, splash, baa, splash."

Yeah, if I was going to spend that kind of money, it would be for a retractable roof and a top-of-the-line 12"-16" telescope.  I'd rather look at the planets, moons and stars than simply imagine them.

On the other hand - You get a lot more bang for your buck than in most of the London property market where you can expect to fork out half a million bucks or more for a 900 square foot hovel with no garden.
