(KTAR Phoenix)   Interesting: Skinny Puppy was one of the bands the military used to torture inmates at Guantanamo Bay. Obvious: Now Skinny Puppy wants the the military to pay for the rights to use it. Silly: They want $666,000   (ktar.com) divider line 13

If they really want to torture someone they should have used Morrissey.

pxlboy: brantgoose: That's ironic in so many ways. I'm not sure I could disentangle the ironies in a book.

The biggest irony may be that copyright is being used against torturers, not ten year olds who download a song they'll love for a couple of weeks but wouldn't and couldn't buy in a thousand years. The US Government is certainly guilty of aiding and abetting copyright trolls and squatters, while torture violates the letter and the spirit of the Constitution, the laws, and the stated principles of every US government.

Read the CIA website for children and they will tell you that they never do assassinations, overthrow elected governments, or torture or other international and domestic crimes. Perhaps there are dim children who would believe this if they ever visited the CIA website.

Well, I'm off to listen to some electro-industrial. Maybe Skinny Puppy has something worth 99 cents.

NutWrench: proteus_b: interesting kind of notoriety. while i don't expect they should collect a cent from the government, it might be worth a bit of free publicity for them....

Copyright infringement is a terrible, terrible crime. It's exactly the same as stealing.
Don't you care about the law and justice and stuff?

/you wouldn't download an aircraft carrier, would you?

I'm 3D printing the USS Carl Vinson right now.

Your Hind Brain: give me doughnuts: The article is pretty information-free.
What alleged copyright violations took place?
Is the band claiming that the songs played at the Guantanamo Bay prison were unlawfully downloaded?
Are they claiming there is an implied obligation that their musin not be played at an unwilling audience?

What harm did Skinny Puppy suffer that needs to be redressed?

So Gitmo is open to the public, free for others to gather at?

Exactly.  When's the last time Skinny Puppy got any press outside the alt-music scene? (The answer is probably the mid '90s when Dwayne Goettel died of a heroin overdose.)

They had a song released a couple years ago that was about beating the shiat out of someone. Can't think of the name of it, but I used it in my track list for PvPing.
