I looked at an iPhone.  I didn't like it, but I've been able to figure out my Android on my Galaxy S4.

I like my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 better than the iPhone 4 my sister has which is about the only iPhone I've played with. Also moose like to bite you when you are using an iPhone and moose bites can be nasty

I agree.  Most of the internet is routed over it.

Had an iPhone. Hated the fact that updates bricked the hell out of it. Apple fanboys are always talking about how they like Apple products because "They just work." Definitely doesn't ring true of the iPhone. After a year, it was slow as molasses, and I didn't even add anything to it. The pre-loaded applications simply slowed down further, and further, and further.

I've had my Galaxy S3 for twice the length of time that I had my iPhone and it still runs like a champ. Very few issues, no crashes, and NO SLOWDOWN!

Also, Woz understands diversification within a portfolio, the lack of which almost killed Apple several times over the past few decades.

Why not an app for the iPhone that runs Android?

I thought he was implying that if iOS starts to tank like blackberry did that they should do that and not stubbornly stick to a dieing os like blackberry did which killed them.

Androidbox?

I see no harm in diversification if it does not cause the company to lose a lot of focus on its IOS based products.  Yes it will divert some energy but you have to hedge your bet and do what is needed for marketshare.

How about instead of making an android phone, you port a version of Xcode to either Linux or Windows so I don't have to get a shiatty mac just to develop for iOS?

/not going to buy a mac just for one iOS progging class

The only thing that came to mind, is why haven't they installed a generator on Steve's coffin....

He'd probably be powering Apple's headquarters since that announcement.

Sounds like you went budget.  You never go budget with Apple.  You don't wait for a month before a new phone release to replace your existing phone.  If something is in the pipeline, you wait, because they'll be supporting the new product.

I've had 3 iPhones, and never had one brick. Even the ones that I jailbroke. I had a Galaxy S2 that was a piece of crap. After that, I swore I would never own another Samsung phone.

Currently own a HTC One that I'm very happy with.

I doubt if Apple would ever build a phone that would have access to the Google Marketplace.
That would make absolutely no business sense.

Because he wants lots of benchmarks?

My favourite was the one that showed the MacBook Air runs faster with Windows 8.

But that IS an iDevice working exactly as planned. If they don't make them obsolete, why buy a new one in a year?

I opted for a Galaxy Victory. It's getting slower as it ages and it kind of pisses me off. I didn't spend much money, so I wasn't expecting much though. Then again, my old Evo 4g just got a new ROM and it feels (if it isn't) 2x faster on the exact same apps. If I could get a custom ROM for the Sprint Galaxy Victory, I'd throw it on there in a heartbeat. If it bricked it, I wouldn't cry.

I took the iPhone 5 for a spin a few times when I thought about switching carriers, and the 5s my girlfriend has it really nice. Don't know if I want to drop that kind of cash though. I'll have to get the 5c a spin in store. I've always liked the iOS interface, but never really liked how locked down they were. My iPod touch was awesome.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: my circa-2005 Windows Mobile phone is a more flexible and capable device than any stock iOS phone or tablet released thusfar by Apple. It can save files from the web, open arbitrary music and video content and it has a web browser that can handle flash. I can control the filesystem if I need to. And it has upgradeable storage and a replaceable battery.

Apple needs to diversify because the once omnipotent Blackberry has fallen what id keeping Apple from doing the same.

I have an iPhone 5. My Mom, approaching 70, showed up over the holidays with a Samsung S3, which aevidently are free now (or else she wouldn't have got it).

I played around with it, and maybe it's the novelty factor, but I was kind of jealous of my Mom's tech for a while.

Then I remembered it's just a farking phone with internet access, and moved on with life.

Not my statement, but I'll answer it.  I had the original G1 android, went to an iPhone4s, now on Galaxy SIV.  There are pluses and minuses to both.  The one thing that I miss about the iPhone with my current phone is the headphone controls (volume, track, pause) worked much better on the iPhone.  They are inconsistent on the SIV.  It may be due to the security my company implements on my phone, but that shouldn't lead to inconsistent behavior, whereas on the iPhone it (and it pains me to say this) just worked.

//Yes I know the headphones are pinned differently and I do have the correct Android headphones.

Mac went from PowerPC to Intel.  No ones complaining now.

Wirelessly mirroring the display. IOS automatically finds Apple TVs on the local network, while Android requires a pairing process where you have to search and then enter in a pairing code.

For a Miracast device in the area for wireless mirroring on Android, that is.

Could that old Win Mobile Phone make a phone call without crashing? Those phones had tons of functionality, but it came at the expense of stability. It was so bad Microsoft had to trash the entire UI layer of the WM OS and start over with Windows Phone, which cost them precious years. Windows Mobile basically doomed Microsoft's mobile ambitions for about a decade.

Wozniak said he grew up thinking his phone could be tapped only if he was doing something wrong, in which case a court-issued warrant would be required.

Wasn't Woz one of the original phone phreaks? One of the perks of that group, even if Woz didn't partake, was listening in on other people's phone calls. I realize he's talking about government but still, phone conversations in the world he grew up in weren't exactly secure.

I love showing off my screen to iphone users.  5.2 inches with 1080 resolution.  423 PPI. Quad core Snapdragon and 2 gigs of RAM.  It was cheaper too.

How do you prevent someone else's iOS device on the network from taking over the streaming on your AppleTV?
