Great find Subby!  It's one of those B-sides that I hadn't heard but for the Deep Tracks station on XM/Sirius.

Unless this is a remix or something it's on the album. Sheesh I remember having it on cassette back in 198something.

So do I.  It was actually one of my favorite songs from 1987 (plus or minus a year).

never gonna click that link, never gonna fall for that.

A quick news search says he's going to be playing a gig with T'Pau and Katrina of the Waves. I didn't know either of those things still existed.

2014-02-06 08:48:59 AM
Gee, how did we all know which song that really linked to?

I still laugh thinking about his appearance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

I like that song. The world was a better place when schlock like this was being produced.

Thanks subby, I'd never heard "Together Forever".

It's hard to top that level of rickrolling

I am sort of glad that its now OK to like Astley's stuff.

Its generally catchy, and he is a damn good producer & singer.

2014-02-06 09:48:40 AM
It would take a strong, strong man to ever let Rick go.

I recall hearing it on the radio back in the 80s as well.  In fact I remember it well enough that I have an ear worm now.  Never knew it was him though.

If you really want to rick-roll you have to link to the timecode for the chorus.

And I can't associate that face with that voice. Must be the studio, early autotune.

My wife and I were both reading Fark by that point, and we were at my parents house and happened to catch it as it went down.  We're running around the house yelling "he rickrolled the parade!"  The rest of my family looked at us like we had just sprouted a spare arm.

Not exactly a rare track. Hell, it was the demo tune on a Casio keyboard I once had.

Well do you remember Rick Astley?
He had a big fat hit it was ghastly
He said I'm never gonna give you up or let you down
Well I'm here to tell you that Dick's a clown

VINTAGE RICK ROLL

2014-02-06 10:14:14 AM
Rick Astley is a pantywaist
It's my butt his face
His teeny tiny two inches of terror
Baby they are gonna scare yuh
Harebrain cockamamie knuckleheaded idjit galoot

"Never Gonna Give You Up" was on the radio this morning on my drive to work.

I didn't press the "scan" button to change the channel.

I listened to it from beginning to end.

What does this mean???

/FARK that song is catchy
//damn you Rick Astley!!!

2014-02-06 10:16:27 AM
My favorite rickroll has to be the promise of the Michelle Obama/whitey clip. It fills me with joy to think about.

anymore, I let myself get rickrolled

just for the nostalgia

Well, if they weren't on the tubes at the time, the reaction is just as expected as the script written for the voice-over announcer that day.

I thought the song was really good way back then.

We all grooved to it while wearing OP t-shirts, stone-washed jeans, and Swatches.

/Uughhh--high school was so, so ugly...

Mine FARK-in-polite-society moment was watching the news with the parents and there was another "old geezer drives into farmer's market" story, and I burst out laughing.  They, my wife, and the kids looked at me like I was Dahmer.

Some of the label's own executives thought that he was the video face for a black singer.

I had literally never caught the parade either before or since in a over a decade's worth of time and managed to catch that one.  I remember saluting my TV and giving it the, "You magnificent bastards." quote.  I may even have teared up after I stopped laughing.

I have no problem admitting that I like both T'Pau and Katrina and the Waves. "Walking on Sunshine" is one of those songs that defies you to be depressed while listening to it.

Same here.  Both are somewhat guilty pleasures.  Never really liked Rick though.

Together Forever and Never Gonna Give You Up are actually the same song - they're countermeolodies of eachother.

What? It was a #1 hit in the U.S., Canada, and Ireland, and in the top 40 pretty much worldwide.

Cuz subby's never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down. never gonna turn around and desert you.

wildcardjack: If you really want to rick-roll you have to link to the timecode for the chorus.

Fark strips out (or used to strip out) timecodes along with everything else after a '#'. An admin can edit the URL, but you can't submit it that way.

We may never get an answer.  It just depends if Sybartite is too shy shy to admit eye to eye.  It's probably hush hush.

I owned that Casio keyboard.  The demo button broke.  Because someone kept pushing that button so many times, it wore out.  They really liked Rick Astley.
