Apple doesn't get viruses or malware. It's the perfect OS for a dicktater

So, even Best Korea didn't want to copy the Windows 8 interface?

The way it will be told in the future is that Supreme Commander Kim Jong-Un invented the operating system, of which America, China, SK, and the whole world copied.

they did something right for a change.  Linux is a better OS than the apple.  more secure too. and costs a whole lot less too.

no one can see apple's source code (or microsoft's) so they can hide anything in the code they want: back doors, for example. NSA??   well come on down!!

with Linux, you can't hide anything.  anyone in the world who can read code can read its source code.  all bugs/backdoors are easy to find if enough eyeballs are looking at it.

happy computing!   appleheads.

Linux has a great GUI and you can do so much more at the command line, if you choose, than the apple or monopoly$oft.

shhh!!  keep it down.  don't want to upset our crony capitalist friends in 'merica.

because, under the hood, its a highly customized UNIX.

Kim Il Sung came down on a cloud and handed a zip disk containing the source code to Kim Jong Un, who compiled it using a computer running on capitalist blood. This release will kill a capitalist pig every time you beat solitaire!

I get the joke, but it's actually just Linux. All they're doing is changing the theme.

Basicly its just as advanced as anyone elses Linux.

Christ, Linux_Yes, I use Linux primarily and you and just the worst troll. At least you always serve as a reminder I'm not logged in to Farm, otherwise your posts would be hidden.

Besides how good could a free operating system really be?

OSX Mavericks is free.  And of course, continues to be *nix.  But please, go on.

what does the OS you use have to do whether you are 'better' than anyone else?   i don't see the connection.  even if you use a better OS, that does not translate into making you a better person. whatever 'better' means.

better in bed?  better in brains?  better at golf?  better at singing?     the list is endless.

but they are clever enough to force you to use THIER hardware if you want to use their "free" OS.   you can install Linux on damn near anything. it doesn't tie you down to apple.  its vendor neutral.

i can buy PC hardware (much cheaper than apple hardware) which is just as good as apple hardware, and then install Linux, bypassing the apple middleman and saving myself some money.  AND i have more security/freedom to customize my desktop.

nice try, though.

99% of everything from you is troll level bullshiat.  This (typos exclude) is actually fairly correct.

Right, but your claim was that whatever flavour of linux you're running is inherently more secure than osx, which simply isn't the case, since they're largely the same thing.  If you're a linux power user and understand what's happening under the sheets, you already know this, so I'm not sure what the deception is about.

Regardless, the greatest threat to the security of a single system isn't generally the OS underpinnings, but rather the user.  So if the ease of security maintenance doesn't mesh with the users ability to effectively manage it, then all the open-sourceness in the world really ain't going to help.

And pre-emptively, that's not to suggest that users are stupid.  Rather, we've been conditioned as users over a generation to assume that usability issues lie with the user- they don't.  That's like saying that understanding the intricacies of the internal combustion engine is a requirement in order to be a good driver.  A gear head might squawk at that, but then again they hardly represent the average driver on the road, do they?

You can biatch about Apple's marketing strategies all you want, but at least they're pushing the envelope the right direction on the usability front, which ultimately bears all kinds security and management fruit.  The idea that computing necessarily be complex is a relic that ought to be disposed of in the dustbin of history.  Computing should be as easy as figuring out how to use a toaster.

I had an argument going on this on FB between some of my friends. Then one of my friends, who heads the IT department for a very large hospital group, wrote this and I think it sums up the OS argument well:

"Windows has a larger footprint, is more ubiquitous, and has a less expensive delivery. The MacOS is nice, but it isn't as flexible, or usable since many devices don't even support it. If all you want to do is photoshop and check email, why get a Mac? Just get an Ipad or a Kindle. If you want to do work, development that isn't dealing with another piece of technology and that isn't fully in it's own architecture stack windows is the definitive answer. To include the US government. The NSA, the CIA, Homeland Security, the Armed Services and many other 3 and 4 letter agencies use Microsoft OS' as their primary delivery mechanism. Active Directory is still the hub of authentication for all Military ID cards. Microsoft has a good product that showed its learning curve in production. Apple has a good product, but it's hardware stack is limited, thus its userbase is as well. Linux is mostly useful in very specific cases where it owns the entire architectural stack. That is its bread and butter and truly where it is used best. It is very much like Unix of the past and still has a difficulty that is hard to get past."

some of your tax dollars go towards ensuring high quality air standards

i guess if you want to say that installing linux is like living in beijing without an air filter you can go ahead and do it but i do not think that is the argument you intended
