Yeah, the ads for Helix made it sound good too.

fusillade762: Anyone read the comic?

Read the first half.

Decent book, but haven't been in the mood to read the whole series since it finished.

/the "dashed hopes" part could also have been "DC Entertainment is involved", assuming they are.

The writer of Gravity?  An awesome looking film with no likeable characters and huge plot holes?  Great.

//The writing had nothing to do with why Gravity was worth seeing.  Actually the writing for it sucked.

Id rather see Scalped become a TV series. DMZ is good but its no Y The Last man, Preacher or Fables..Fables would have made a great series but shows like Grimm and Once Upon a Time stole that thunder.

What's the word on Y The Last Man? Are they going to make it into a movie?  Love the graphic novel. Try to read it every year.

that's the part that bums me out.  They always sound good, then you watch them...

the only one I've enjoyed recently was Continuum, but I'm not sure if that was a SyFy production or they just aired it.

The ads don't show you the characters doing the dumbest thing possible at any given moment.

Hey Subby, some of us don't automatically want to blow anyone involved with "Mad Men."

SYFY? No need to bother it will get cancelled if it is any good and if it is terrible they'll play it all they can.

I believe the rights go back to the author soon so he'll have freedom to do what he chooses.

The comic never interested me I doubt the show will either

Given a huge budget a comic adaptation I wouldn't mind seeing is Starlins Metamorphosis Odyssey, The Price, Dreadstar series
At least up until they leave the Empirical Galaxy
The series went down hill after that

I read the first 6 graphic novel collections and thought it was really good--I just recommended the series to a buddy last night, coincidentally.  Plenty of connection to modern politics to keep it interesting to folks who like that stuff.  Some really compelling storylines.
But, Jesus: SyFy?  Why bother, unless your goal is to piss off the fanboys?

Yeah, because when I think 'science fiction', I think 'ridiculous idea about a new Civil War causing Manhattan to be the dividing line in a stalemate'.   Because that's just chock full of scientific concepts in play!

GFY, SyFy.

No kidding.  I was interested to see it and then I walked out thinking how much bullshiat I had just seen thrown up on the screen. Gravity sucked.

Comic book thread?

Anyone recommend any American stuff that's similar to Shonen stuff from japan? Preferably finished. I always ask. I gravitate to the fighting stuff like Yuyu hakusho or similar, not super plot thick, but lots of fun fights and growth.

/don't judge me, I read 2-3 books a week, I just want graphics in my graphic novels not 400 pages of exposition and one indecipherable action shot
//looking at YOU attack on Titan, gah, too much talk

DMZ would make a good multi half-season serial. (3 or 4 12-episode seasons). It has a couple nice big story arcs and several good supporting character arcs well spaced through its run.

Why syfy though? fark that.

I am surprised Starz hasn't picked Northmen up. They like the slash and burn stuff lately. Not pretty enough? Too small of story lengths?

hehe, sweet.  sounds like a perfect new vehicle for Shia Leboeuf.

/loved the book
//not biting on the enthusiasm for a tv show on syfy
///if its ruinable then go full ruination with Shia
