I'm amazed we don't hear about that more often, since that shiat is rampant among baseball players.

I don't know of any athlete I have such serious mixed feelings for. Love him for helping the Red Sox bring down the Yankees, but my god has he been terrible as a person ever since.

It's why 'rooting for laundry' only makes sense. Nobody's a choirboy, athlete or otherwise.

/He's an ass, but I don't wish cancer on him.

this was my fist thought.  I have vivid memories of all those Phillies teams dipping' up a storm. It's really unfortunate in any scenario.  I recall his wife had a serious skin cancer bout when he was playing in Arizona too.

Baseball sucks.

Always has, always will.

I'm a Mariners fan, and even I would not say such balderdash.

This is BALCO's fault for their topical ointments.

Or some such wharrgharrble.

Personally I think he farks kids. Kinda looks like the type.

This is farking brilliant. Triple entrendre. Like the cancer is sarcoma, but also a reference to his bloody sock game, and also a reference to how people from Boston would pronounce "sarcoma." +1, sir.

The fact that he doesn't say what kind of cancer it is, is a bad thing, I think. Although Curt is the kind of guy who would love the attention from a malignant stage 1 mole on his face (the surgery lasts almost 10 minutes!), I would tend to think that he's not disclosing it because it's more serious. I don't wish cancer on even my worst enemies, so I sure hope he beats it. Godspeed, Curt.

Been playing Schilling's video game opus, Kingdoms of Amalur, this weekend after it was on sale for $6 on Steam. Pretty decent so far. It does feel like an abandoned MMO that decided to turn into an Elder Scrolls clone, though I keep thinking it's more of an updated action RPG that I played on the SNES for some reason (Secret of Mana? Zelda?).

Cancer sucks, even for a derping fark who screwed over a state government, employees and killed the company that made Rise of Nations.

No mention of type or stage? Since this is a giant asshole, I'm going to assume that he caught the common cold and is labeling it as liver cancer.

/not really

I bought it during that sale too.  Combat and crafting seem pretty good, but the story and world don't interest me at all so I'm struggling to find a compelling reason to keep playing it.

Unfortunate news about Curt, his baseball retirement years haven't gone very well.

Oh, I'll go there.  I most certainly wish cancer on people who destroyed so many lives.  But that's precisely why I don't wish cancer on Curt Schilling.  He's a grade-A jerk but as far as "people who should die painfully" goes he doesn't even crack the Top 1000.

Yeah, Amalur not Elder Scrolls-level lore, but then again I never read R.A. Salvatore. Everyone you need to talk to is like your generic MMO questgiver. "Hi, you're here for my quest, be back when you've killed it/hit a switch/delivered it." Persuasion and ethical options are pretty rare too compared to say a Bioware game.

Crafting is a bit wonky but damn, there's a lot of buffs if you invest in the blacksmithing and gemcrafting. You can turn low-level gear into epics if you hoard enough parts.

I'd give the combat a higher score if it had unarmed as an option. The gameplay seems like it would be ideal for a monk character. Also, I kinda wanted to play as one of those gnomes you meet in the beginning.

If nothing it's reason to be rid of them. "We tried your pink clothes, and Curt Schilling got cancer!!! YOU FAILED US, SUSAN G KOMEN!!!!"

Because he's a massive douche. But I fervently hope he beats this cancer in short order so he can go right back to being the self-aggrandizing douche he's always been.

Well, some don't like him because he's an outspoken conservative.
Others, as mentioned above, dislike how he bought, then effectively dismantled a liked game studio.
Some disliked him for the teams he played for, and others believe the whole "bloody sock" thing may have been exaggerated/faked.

..but some don't like him simply because he is, in fact, a douche.
