Stephen King's The Lamp Monster: coming this fall from the CW.

2014-02-05 07:30:52 AM
Set in the world of miracles, "Ayana" features complex and powerful characters who are touched with just a hint of unexplained magic that triggers profound change in their lives.

The CW got outbid again, it sounds like.

Moar Langoliers!  Only this time, don't waste money on needless production values, let the story carry itself.

But Bronson Pinchot has to return.

You just can't have a show without Pinchot.

Jordan Kerner will serve as exec producer on "Ayana," with Ben Haber producing. Kerner's feature film credits include both the "Mighty Ducks" and "Smurfs"

Sounds like the perfect person for handling any post-van $K work.

Really? That cliche is nearly as old as King's Magic Negroes. He got hit by a van 15 years ago. It's time to update your jokes.

Well when he stops writing magic Negroes and his post-van work improves I guess we can stop taking note of them.

So what were your favorite pre-van works of his? Rose Madder? The Regulators?

Only people who don't read King don't know he's moved on and writes the same amount of shiatty and awesome stories as he ever did.

You might have gotten old, though.

Teknowaffle: I have been enjoying Haven quite a bit. Under the Dome sucks

I got caught up on Haven during last season.  It was a lot better than I expected, but I do think it should only go on for another year or two.  It's starting to run out of steam.

Under the Dome was such an incredible disappointment.  If they had stuck with the original plan of it being a single season series, it might have helped significantly.  Making it an ongoing season was just a terrible decision.

I'm on a Joe Hill kick these days. If you haven't read anything by Stephen Kings son, go an read Heart Shaped Box, Horns or NOS4A2. Good stuff. He's incredibly talented and it reads like the King stories of the 70's.

This season should be the last I think. Close off the story line, and then shut it down.

And don't forget Locke and Key.  I really hope a film or TV version gets off the ground at some point.

Now's as good a time as any to start it.  The series just wrapped up within the past couple of months, and I think he stuck the landing pretty well with the ending.

I sorta can't wait for Under the Dome to return. I've never seen a show go from Very Good to Buttf*ckingly Retarded quite so fast.

Something something interesting on its own something something and now retconned into the Dark Tower verse.

Wolf892: I hope that they stick to the proper Stephen King ending and don't ruin it like they usually do when they adapt his stories to film. Stephen King's endings are brilliant, and yet are constantly ruined in other media adaptations

reading Doctor Sleep right now, enjoying it and hoping they don't make a movie

I'm sure.  like 90% sure, that the series Under the Dome wasn't based on the book of the same title.  I mean, the commercials never mentioned Stephen King at all, and it wasn't the same characters, and in the commercials (I never did watch it) it was like this big metropolitan city, but in the novel is was a small town without skyscrapers and the like.

This also might be a good time to point out that the Novel was pretty good.

Still hoping for a Long Walk movie.

2014-02-05 07:28:36 PM
A good film based on Long Walk NEEDS to happen, especially since so many lesser stories of his are getting the cinematic green-light. One of his best non-horror stories.

The kid (and brother of the first human death on the inside of the dome) lived, a few other generic people i can't remember the names of lived, and it was aliens or some shiat who were playing with the people the way a small kid might play with an ant-hill.

//and it was still a better love story than twilight.

If you mean the show, no, i never made it to the end.
