Didn't he get enough exposure in that Radio Shack Superbowl ad?

I don't know much about the veracity of the claims, but I do like the ad. Kudos, Mr. Sexy-time snorkeling self-made budget-loving nerd!

Read that in a Stefon voice.

"This club has everything: Ghosts, banjos, Carl Paladino, a stuck-up kitten who won't sign autographs, furkels."
"Furkels?"
"Fat Urkels. After you've been with one of those guys, you'll ask yourself "Did I do thaaaat?'"

"I don't know. What?"
"Sidney Applebaum."

Are you kidding?  You can't trust his word, so to me, that makes him a total a-hole.

Although I don't like his billion dollar cut to education, and taxing senior's pensions, and giving a billion and a half in corporate tax breaks, he at least didn't lie about it.  His whole campaign was, "I have a plan," and no one in the media actually tried to get him to give any specifics.

I do completely despise him for lying about Right to Work, and the whole way it was passed.  Anyone who believed him when he said it wasn't on his agenda were suckers.

Don't get me wrong, he is still an a-hole, just not a "complete" a-hole. That's something coming from a republican. He did try to stop that abortion bill by vetoing it, he is trying to g against his party to get funding for fixing roads and bridges instead of tax cut, among other things.

2014-02-04 06:44:40 PM
As a Michigander as well, I think everyone has it summed up correctly:

1. He doesn't fark up completely by shutting down busy bridges.
2. He makes an attempt to look moderate.
3. However, he really does directly cut taxes for business and cut funding to schools. And it basically looks like it will happen again.

/Michigan has benefited greatly from the fact that the auto industry finally stopped running itself through the woodchipper.

Didn't MI reduce its deficit and produce jobs because Obama concentrated on helping the auto industry recover with his economic stimulus plan?

Something, something no coverage or something if you are rape-raped.

I have no idea what is going on with that. Between work and fending off rapists because I'm so slutty, I've been busy.

Another Michigan guy here.

As I recall, he was a tech company CEO or some such nonsense.  That is part of why he billed himself as "one tough nerd".

Personally, I doubt he would know a SAN from a USB drive.  He reminds me of a sales guy - shifty.

As I kind of said it before, it was actually a highlight of his term. The bill was pushed through by teaparty, then he vetoed it. Then they pushed it through again with petition signature, which is veto proof. So, I will give him a pass on that.

As stated above as well, his biggest a-holing was cutting school funding, basically making unions useless and unconditional tax cuts to corporations. Also, he had nothing to do with MI's rebound.

That's the other thing.  He took over at the right time to make him look good.  His policies haven't really been all that great.  He gets some credit for being one of the Republican governors elected in 2010 (along with the likes of Kasich, Walker, and Scott) and NOT turning out to be as horrible as those guys.

We'll have to see who the Democrats get to run against him.  As of right now, it's not a very solid field.

I think he's got some childhood traumas that he still has yet to deal with. Does he speak in the ad? (I refuse to watch any part of it other than a gif of the snorkel shot a local site made) His voice didn't mature beyond that of a boy of 10. You know what that means.

Not like the Dems helped much, though.

Smackledorfer: Lastly, I do respect him as a fairly intelligent guy.

The bridge and finding a way to encourage  more immigrants are the two things I am okay with him on.

The bridge will cost Michigan NOTHING.  Not a dime (except eventually in toll fees).  It's long freaking overdue, and f--k Matty.

That said, he's still a jerk.  But damn, did he play the election game well.  Looks like he's following the same strategy this time around.

2014-02-05 12:17:12 AM
Oh yeah, and the incredibly long foot dragging but eventual Medicaid expansion.  I am okay with that.

Pulling a reverse Robin Hood on taxes and refusing to veto if the Republicans pass a bill giving Michigan's electoral votes via gerrymandered as f--k districts as opposed to popular vote (Romney would have won Michigan if that was the case, even though Obama won the popular vote handily) is f--ked up.

He's got a few decent and honest public servants in certain positions, though.  Props for that too, I suppose.  Not like it matters when Lansing is a derp-fest.

Lol, did they de-union Michigan while no one was looking? You guys need to learn to show up to the polls before you're proper f*cked.

If the only unions left are the public employee ones you're in for a bad, divisive, and ugly time, like we have in California.

Good luck, we're all watching.
