She did a solid job.  I can't argue with that.  But that doesn't necessarily mean that another decent actress couldn't have done the same.

What bothered me - and I'm sure it's completely personal - is that I love Sarah Chalke, but I hated the whole Stella story arc.  Go figure.

I thought Spears was forgettable, which she is.  That might have been the last noteworthy thing she's done.

Anyway, nearly all the 'this is my girl/boyfriend' story arcs in the series have been terrible, terrible, terrible.  Barney's stripper girlfriend Quinn or whatever was terrible, Chalke's storyline was terrible, Kal Penn's storyline was terrible.  The writers spend so much time in the little friendship unit they can't write anyone outside it to save their lives.

That said, it's been a good show.  Long, long, long in the tooth about now.  We just watch now out of a sense of duty.

This season has been pretty awful, with at least one episode the worst television I ever remember watching, but the floating away thing really pissed my wife off.  I don't know why, it didn't bother me that much, but she really, really hated that.

Last line FTFA:  See, Spears boosted ratings at a time when network bosses were deciding whether or not to pick up the show for a fourth season, as viewership had been declining - and as we all know: ratings are pretty much everything!

Did we run up against a deadline here writer? Thems some good details there.

I love NPH too, but he 'saves' the show for you? He makes Charlie Sheen look like an overly complicated genius by comparison (on the show). His character is so one dimensional he's Saran Wrap.

she was going cross-eyed because she couldn't believe, after 9 years, the audience is still being punished with the Ted/Robin bullshiat.

So much this. Laziest written womanizer on TV and that is saying A LOT.

She was TERRIBLE. When she wasn't overacting, she was under-acting. Her delivery only sounds funny because of the laugh track, but it flows like every 70s sports star cameo.

The matchy-matchy scene with her and Barney in blue sweaters is PAINFUL.

// I like the show otherwise
// Stella was needed for a "make Ted into an asshole for half a season" arc (having already explored the "whiny pussy" angle in its entirety)
// and I would absolutely give up 100% of my future earnings potential to be the meat in a Robin/Victoria sandwich

This season has been uneven as fark all.  Slappointment and the rhyming episode were terrible but I quite enjoyed How Your Mother Met Me and Bass Player wanted.  When they play the new character card it gets better.

While the weird shot of Robin floating away lasted too long, I enjoyed yesterday's episode.  Ted has tried to talk potential 'the one's' out of getting married both before and after he himself got left at the altar.  The big growth point for this season is Robin still has doubts about Barney (the sleepless night, saying 'this isn't gonna work' when they talked about how they both charge into things, all the fighting last season as referenced in Time Travelers) yet this time, with Robin of all people, Ted's holding back.

It's nice to see Ted let go for once.  Though I have no idea what's going to happen in the ep called 'Vesuvius.'
