I first thought: Man, they're getting old. Does Wayne Coyne need a walker?

Interesting dude. Very approachable. It's a shame he and Michelle split. I quite enjoyed pictures of her.

Has anyone seen their latest stage show? As I understand it, it's quite dark. We chased them around the US in 2011 and loved their bit then.

As a huge Flaming Lips fan for close to two decades, I must say I'm really starting to get tired of Wayne's shtick.

I can't even listen to the pink Floyd dark side of the moon after hearing the lips' version.

The lips lost me with embryonic. Drozd off drums and writing songs by jamming i think is the departure. Too bad really.

Thank You Black Jesus!: The lips lost me with embryonic.

A couple of good tracks on embryonic. mamarita and I were talking about how we'd like to see some early stuff live. Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus With Needles, One Million Billionth of a Millisecond on a Sunday Morning etc.

Some great old stuff  there. Leave Yoko in Soho and get back to doing what you do (did) best!

I've been to a show on every tour for the last several years. Much more spacey lately, but based on set lists you never know what kind of show you're going to get. One of the best live shows to see right now IMHO.

Cool. Thanks for the update. We haven't seen them since 2011. We decided that they are going on the dance card again this year. Austin in June would be perfect and we had a promo code for tickets but other priorities got in the way...damnit.

What's the over/under on albums until the Flaming Lips totally do something mindblowing and different by going back to straight loud guitars?

Yup.  Met him backstage at a festival once.  He made fun of my costume (in a nice way).

Looks like Instagram kicked him off again. :)

I've met him numerous times since I saw them open for Butthole Surfers in '88, and he's always been gracious.

Having said that, they could fart into a microphone, give it some convoluted song name, and throw it on a USB drive inside some random object and people flip the F out. They lost their ability to exercise quality control at this point. But they're still FL, and I love them. I just don't get excited about new material after AWWTM.

I'm not sure I'd put it quite like that. I think it's more they have figured out that

He's made no bones about how he has no problem making money on what he does. He busted his ass for a long time (including 11 years moonlighting at Long John Silvers) to get where he is. However he has never forgotten that he's a just a kid from the wrong side of OKC. More power to him!
