Hey Peyton, it wouldn't have been quite so embarrassing if your entire team hadn't gone to the Superbowl expecting to win.

Well, regardless of what Payton Manning chooses to consider embarrassing or insulting, I think I would have to agree that his team's performance was embarrassing. In fact, that might be one of the less insulting words one could apply to it.

I liked that Sherman defended criticism of manning and that manning helped Sherman after the game was already lost. Great sportsmanship all around.

But hey, keep pushing this

Do teams routinely go to the superbowl not expecting to win?

That seems rather defeatist...

Some of us fans go into every game expecting not to win. That way when we do win we're very happy, and if we lose we say "oh well".

Sad. That wasn't the same team that played during the regular season. They might have lost anyway but they were definitely not 35 points worse than Seattle, who barely scored 35 points in a game let alone 35 more than Denver. It's sad we didn't see the real match up of those two teams.

It was also reminiscent. This game was like the Super Bowls in the late 80s and 90s, totally boring blowouts.

Becomes the QB with most playoff losses.

Beats a Rex Grossman led Bears team for his only Super Bowl win.

I'd say his legacy is pretty much set.

Semper IvXx: They might have lost anyway but they were definitely not 35 points worse than Seattle, who barely scored 35 points in a game let alone 35 more than Denver.

In a way, Seattle didn't -- their offense, anyway.  The defense scored two points off a safety and seven off a pick-six (though the safety was more like Denver scoring -2 points).  They also added two FGs and a return TD courtesy of special teams.  So the final score is more like:

Seattle Offense 21*
Seattle Special Teams 13
Seattle Defense 9*
Denver 8

The really sad part?  Denver couldn't even beat a single part of Seattle.  21-8 is maybe less embarrassing, but still not exactly a heart-stopper.  It finally gets exciting if Seattle's offense decides to kneel/fair-catch every return and punt away every possession on first down, Tecmo Super Bowl handicap style, completely leaving their offense and special teams out of the game for a 9-8 thriller.

*The PATs are technically special teams but they're so much of a meaningless formality let's give them to the unit that scored the TD

The Broncos just didn't realize it was going to be loud and they wouldnt be able to hear Mannings Omahaing. That combined with the Seahawks playing more physical then they should made it really unfair.

The Broncos performance was about as successful as Joe Dirt trying to land a gig as a GQ model..

Next up - Peyton "Pearl-Clutcher" Manning on the mic!
Peyton, that's the point. It's meant to be insulting. I mean, damn, dude, you friggin' missed the first snap of the game - for a safety. In the Super Bowl. If only you could hold onto the ball as well as you hold onto your ersatz outrage, the scoreboard would've looked a bit better for your team. You set a bunch of records in this Super Bowl - and not all of them were positive.

"Embarrassing?" Be glad that they just went with that word, especially given all the smack heaped on the Seahawks by your organization. What's worse, of course, are the sports writers still focusing on your completions & yardage, even though you had your ass kicked, because they still can't get over the fact that the Seahawks, a team of young upstarts and "thugs", as so many of them put it in the run-up to the game, not only beat you, but beat you handily. You threw lots and lots of little passes, for lots of yardage, and still couldn't pull the trigger. It was like watching a drunk masturbate.

Heck, the only reason you got on the friggin' scoreboard was because the Seahawks made an error. "Embarrassing?" Yeah. We're all insulted, Peyton. Do better next time.

... "unfair?" Really? 12 seconds into the game. The first play. Neither noise nor physicality had yet really applied - the Broncos started in a huddle, after all - and the very first play of the game ended in a safety. Why?

Because the Broncos weren't ready. They weren't ready for that play, or this game, or the overall caliber of the much-maligned Seahawks. "Unfair?" I agree. The Seahawks came to play in the Super Bowl, and instead got saddled with a clearly unprepared opposition. Hell, we took it easy on the Broncos during the last 7 minutes of the 4th quarter, just because there was no point in running up the score solely to set yet another Super Bowl record. The Seahawks looked forward to a contest with professionals ready to play, and instead had a high school football team tossed at them.

The only way we're going to get any real Super Bowl competition is if someone on the East Coast buys the 49ers.

People seem to be slamming Manning who don't understand the game of football. His offensive line failed miserably and even then he completed a large percentage of his passes. The interceptions were caused by his line getting pushed back into him. It's a team sport.Study it out

Watching those young guys fly around the Bronco's looked like a Version 2.0 team was playing an outdated Version 1.0 effort.

Anyone who things that performance was "embarrassing" doesn't understand the Warriors Code.

According to the Warriors Code, that performance was humiliating, and worthy of the lamentation of many woman.

So what you're saying is that Peyton is going to cry to Elway that he should approach the Competition Committee about changing the rules to better suit Peyton. Again.

Gotcha.

Too funny  .....   I got slammed yesterday because I said the Bronc's played like shiat; barely showed up for the game; was NOT the same team that won the AFC championship. Today, even Manning agrees (though he has troubled being "embarrassed" by his teams performance) and many are posting the same sentiments.
