Too bad it can all be shut down by saying "South Korea Sign Out"

"I've never even thought of a game system performing national defense tasks," Ko is quoted as saying

There was a commercial on yesterday during the SB where they featured come pretty cool Kinect stuff, and I was telling my wife that the NON-gaming aspects of the Kinect are FAR cooler than the gaming uses., The thing is rather farking impressive, mostly limited by what people think of. There was even an idea for what was basically a hack-proof digital keypad, which just made you pissed that you hadn't thought of it first, it was so simple.

The Kinect is a really cool device.

If the South Koreans see someone sneaking across from the North, do they stop them and send them back?

The 2nd half of the 20th century saw a nuclear arm race. This is the first salve in the motion sensing input device race that will mark the beginning of the 21st century.

Anyone thinking to try this at the US borders?

Pfft. Big deal.  All North Korea has to do is put a piece of black tape over the lens and hit UP-UP-DOWN-DOWN-LEFT-LEFT-RIGHT-RIGHT-A-B on the controller.

Kinect on the Xbox One gets a little annoying some times. It has a really high false positive for me and my wife, where if we move our hands the wrong way when watching TV, like stretching or holding up a drink, it will activate the motion controls and overlay the on screen media controls and we'll have to sit really still to get it to go away. It's great as a tech demo, but in real-world usage I honestly find it easier to just pick up the controller and use that. I wish there was an Xbox One media remote, especially because there isn't really a way to program my Harmony One and my Tivo to both work fully at the same time because both devices are on when watching TV, but only one can use the directional pad on the remote. At some point, I may just give up on the TV integration and stick it on different HDMI input than the Tivo. It is nice to be able to instantly jump over to Netflix and to free up an input, but it just doesn't really add much to my TV experience.

Doesnt this mean that Microsoft's export licenses should be revoked as they are selling equipment that is being used by a foreign nation, outside its stated purpose and particularly for military use?
