In fairness, it is what a chef would do to get rid of a body. Of course, a good one would flense the body, and dump the bones, and then drop the resulting "product" in someone else's dumpster.

As a chef, I don't agree with the act, but I do understand it. We are not good people...

It's always romantic to make your wife a nice meal.

If you really want to get away with murdering your wife, reconsider your priorities.

Even assuming murder is 100% legal for you and no one will miss the person, it's still a lot of hard work and emotional shiat to go through when you could just divorce them and move on.

They really wanted to reinforce the fact that her body has never been found.

Served with a side of fava beans and a nice chianti.

Well, now he can just warm up that shoulder along with the rest of the leftovers.

Long pig.

Great. I can add "long pig" to the list of questionable Google searches that will be uncovered if I am ever under investigation for something.

He looks like that guy from The Wedding Singer. Glen. Yeah. That's it.

I really don't like the death penalty, but for special circumstances like this it fits.

How does he only get 15 years for murder? Small time drug dealers get more.

How much alimony or child visitation rights does a dead person demand?

Seems like the jury only convicted him of second degree murder because they didn't believe he meant to murder her.

I stand corrected then; the jury was comprised of nuts and dolts.

You've clearly never been through a messy divorce/custody dispute/alimony/child support hearings. I'm not saying that those things justify murder, but damn if they don't make it tempting at times.

Saw this on 48hrs Saturday night. I honestly don't think he boiled his wife.  One, the cops interviewed him when he was whacked out on meds while in the hospital recovering from an 80ft fall.  Also, how would he be able to fit a 55g drum full on water and a grown woman on his resturant's stove and leave it there for 4 days while no-one noticed?

Did he kill her? Hell yah, but even the prosecutors quickly moved away from the "boiled her down to get rid of the body" theory.

He had his wife's name changed to Sue Vide.

Hard-boiled detective work solved this braisen murder.

The police didn't believe him because of his stock answers.

He finally broke under pressure and was reduced to tears.

I'm so glad the jury  rendered the correct verdict.

I've never understood why people attempt to murder a spouse when they are no longer happy with them.  A divorce would be much cheaper; even if you did get away with it you would have to live with it the rest of your life. (which I guess wouldn't bother some people) just waiting for the other shoe to drop, because if the deceased's  family is a close family, they will NEVER let it go. I'd say the legal route is definitely the way to go.

/WTF, sickos

The article just says he filled the drum with boiling water, not that it was on a stove, but yeah, the logistics are a little screwy without more info.

Don't some restaurants have high temperature cleaning and dishwashing hoses?  Could've used one of those to fill the drum, I guess.

fat boy: "What do you think is in the burgers?"

here's a two part story, one about burgers, the other about a cannibal chef

a local restaurant used to have a burger called the cannibal.  it was great.

a chef at some fancy restaurant killed his wife, cooked her up, ate her, and jumped off a hotel rooftop to his death.  (surprisingly similar to this story, difference was that the suicide attempt was successful, and I believe he was pretty fancy about his cooking preparation)

then the restaurant removed the cannibal burger from their menu.  apparently, actual cannibalism was not the connection they were trying to make.

I hope no one would ever actually try that. I'd think even a mild vindaloo sauce would raise blisters on a lot of sensitive areas. Yowch!
