Being a foreign skank is a jail offence in Italy. Future students take note.

Like she was ever going to serve time in Italy again.

That sentence is just begging for some punctuation. A comma or two, possibly even a semicolon.

from what I understand, the prosecutor in this case is one of the more contemptible people who ever lived

good.

there is little reason for a hot young chick to kill her roommate
but plenty of reasons for a yet unknown psychopath to do so

even if he's harder to locate
for the italian keystone cops.

Worst justice system outside Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.

NOOO!!!

She was going to need shelter from extradition.

At my place.

OK, I'll add a minor disclaimer that I would crawl through a field of nails to drink that woman's dirty bathwater, but the Italian justice systems seems to be just narrowly above Salem, Massachusetts circa 1692.

I wonder if he did that with knowing that it would disqualify the verdict. He did mention being uncomfortable with the entire case.
If so, good for him.

Dude, the guy who killed her left his bloody hand print under Kercher's body, in her blood, left his dna inside Kercher's body, confessed and is currently serving time for her murder.  Knox and her boy friend left no physical evidence at the murder scene.  But it totally make sense that two people would hook up with a person they never met to murder a room mate.  If you are insane and see devil worshipping murders everywhere you look.

Actually, they did catch him, there was a ton of evidence he did it, and they convicted him already and he is serving time. But, they already had this going in the tabloids, so why stop the original prosecution just because the actual murderer was found?

At least they have a very, very independent judiciary. Italy was the first country to convict CIA agents in an "extraordinary rendition" case. American agents abducting a guy in Italy is definitely illegal, and the Italian judiciary didn't get the memo that legally arresting suspects is pre-9/11 thinking.

British dead woman. British tabloids wanted blood.

These same tabloids celebrated when we let their little murdering au pair go about 15 years ago. Slammed the kid down so hard blood vessels in his eyes burst. But the parents were bad parents (by hiring an au pair in the first place) so killing the kid was totally ok.

The people insisting upon her guilt are in the "fark Americans" crowd.  Sadly, a lot of them also happen to be Americans.  Their only reason for thinking she's guilty is because she is an American.  It certainly can't because of the evidence, since there is zero, nada, zilch, zip evidence tying her or her boyfriend to the crime in any way.  Had they been involved, there would have been something, no matter how remote.

Also, in a previous Knox thread someone posted that the original prosecutor had been brought up on some corruption charges BEFORE this case, yet was allowed to stay on to destroy this girl's life.

I don't know what kind of framing explains Guede. Any theory of their guilt seems to depend on them deciding to assist in a home invasion killing by a complete stranger. I have not yet heard a credible sounding explanation for this.

You're thinking too hard. The domestic message isn't "guilty because x, y, and z," it's "American whore guilty, of course."

My husband's comment on seeing the headline: "Shouldn't there be an "Italy" tag by now?" Or at least an "Amanda Knox" tag, since given that the Italian courts seem determined to double down on the idiocy with every chance they get, we're going to be seeing "Amanda Knox Found Guilty" / "Amanda Knox Acquitted On Appeal" headlines for the next decade or so.

It makes me very sad that visiting Italy's natural beauty and historical treasures would require giving my money to modern-day Italians.

No worries, the prosecution can just try her again for a third time.  After all, third-times-the-charm!

Worry not; I'm sure they'll make their case eventually with enough do-overs.

Oh yah, it's late over there

Maybe, for the sake of simplicity, they could just mount a large electronic billboard across the front of the Palace of Justice to continually display the current status of Knox's conviction.

Nobody thinks she's guilty because she might have had sex once or twice. That seems a particularly prudish and american take on things.

They think she might be guilty because there are a lot of inconsistencies at play.

But mostly what europeans are worked up about is how the US demands extradition of people for minor misdemeanours, sometimes for things that aren't even criminal in the home country, but seems to have no qualms about saying "nu-uh" when it comes to supplying a convicted murderer. Most of the European outrage has *nothing* to do with Knox or the rest and everything to do with US hypocrisy and frustration at our own kow-towing asshole politicians.

Like Roman Polanski.  Drug-raping a minor is no big deal over there, especially if you're an "artiste."

Also an acquitted non-murderer. As per their own courts. I'm not sure what kind of sadist would want an innocent person jailed for life in order to atone for the sins of others.

Satanic ritual sex game with a stranger.  Happens all the time.
