Is this show any good?  I heard it was boring as shiat.

2014-02-02 07:03:43 PM
I'll probably keep watching for a few more eps. The last one did show some improvement, imo. I kinda like pissed off Coulson.

As I said it seems to be improving. That is unless the last couple episodes are just statistical blips.

I like it.  Sure, it has its ups and downs but it's better than some of the other shiat on TV.

2014-02-02 07:37:12 PM
I watched it for a while and stopped.  No idea why.  It doesn't suck.  Just ...stopped watching.

The first 2 or 3 episodes I saw were pretty good.  Then ....just stopped watching.  I think I must have found something else to grab my attenti OOH SHINY!!

Does it count if you never started?

No interest in live TV anymore.

They don't do it live. That's an incredible strain on the special effects guys.

I saw the first few episodes.  I was expecting regular appearances from some recognizable characters of the Marvel universe, even if they were 2nd or 3rd tier.  The only thing 'Marvel' about the show was SHIELD and some random references to the Avengers movie.  It reminds me of the decision to create a D&D MMPOG, and then set it in a campaign setting no one heard of instead of the established ones people had been playing for years.  Simply slapping on a property name isn't good enough.

It's getting better. Shame it has taken the better part of a season to do so.

2014-02-02 08:29:43 PM
I quit watching this after four episodes, stopped watching arrow after first season and stopped walking dead two episodes into this season. I don't know what it is but I've basically given up on tv, which is sad. I blame Lost.

2014-02-02 08:30:10 PM
Last few episodes have been damn good.  It's like nobody's ever seen a Whedon show before.  They always take a few to get their footing.  Calling it, by Season Two this will be one of the best shows on tv.

maybe if the show was good, people would still watch it.

While you're right, AoS has been getting a lot better. I'm hoping they continue the trend and that the writers have found their groove. If it continues to stay good I'll just call it growing pains.

I quite enjoy Agents of SHIELD, but I was expecting a show about super-agents, not super-heroes, and as a hardcore marvelphile, the evolving plotline has me hooked.  Who is the Clairvoyant?  Is it M.O.D.O.K.?  Is it The Mad Thinker?  Is it Skye?  Is the Lady in the Flower Dress a toned-down version of *Viper*?  *Madame Masque?*

I'm glad they aren't doing Villain of the Week bullshiat, and just being like "Look at what C-List Supervillain we mangled this week!"   I would much rather they take an entire season to introduce non-comic fans to these deep universe characters like motherfarkin' Deathlok, than have them be one episode toss-offs that leave the character just as obscure as ever.  As soon as they announced that Mike Petersen was Deathlok I just about creamed my jeans.  Holy shiat did they ever do that brilliantly!  First they introduce Mike and the centipede program, then they introduce the concept of the assassin leash (eye implant thing) and cybernetics in general, then they introduce the evil shadowy organization out to destroy SHIELD, and then they have an episode where Mike gets his leg blown off.

This is Deathlok: a black dude who is supposed to be dead gets resurrected as a super-humanly strong and tough cyborg and implanted with a device the forces him to serve an shadowy, evil corporation and sent him against the good guys making the central conflict of his story breaking free from control while doing minimal damage to the "enemy," then seeking vengeance on the villains who created him.

That's a complicated story to tell in 45 minutes, but by breaking down the elements and introducing them each separately, they can introduce Deathlok without having to explain  all of the things that make Deathlok Deathlok.

I agree with Gregg.  If you're not digging this series, you're not really a comic book fan.  This shiat is great.

2014-02-02 08:38:48 PM
They're also going to introduce Lorelei, the Enchantress' sister and have Sif be on that ep

It got better.  The one guy is too good looking and I don't believe he could beat up anyone.  I can't get past that.

I agree that it got off to a rocky start and that it'shiatting it's stride now.

All in all it's turning into a really good toboggan ride.

His co-stars Ming-Na Wen and Brett Dalton also criticized a section of the audience for wanting answers to the show's overarching mysteries too soon.

I don't necessarily want answers, but I WOULD like the questions to at least be interesting.

We all miss him.

A show that keeps having a few weeks between new episodes in its first season isn't doing so well... well no duh.

2014-02-02 09:01:42 PM
I keep checking to see if its on, but its had like two episodes in the last two months, annoying. Yeah, one episode in December and two in January. Really glad its back this week, its good, not great, but its got so much room to grow.

I still say theres no way Centipede ISNT Hydra... many limbs and all that. But then again what evil organization in the Marvel universe ISNT actually Hydra.

But im really really really looking forward to the Netflix shows and eagerly awaiting any news about them.

/and Guardians of the Galaxy, but that goes without saying

I agree with a number of people ITT...the show is really starting to hit its stride.  And, since it's not on Fox, we might actually see it survive long enough to get a few more seasons.

You can't blame the show for that, crap like that is purely in the hands of programming directors.

2014-02-02 09:14:41 PM
It hasn't had a new episode in a while.

I consume a lot of odd shows. Castle. Bones. Arrow. Supernatural. Sleepy Hollow. Grimm. Agents of SHIELD. Almost Human. Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Community. The Neighbors. Dads. Family Guy. American Dad! Nikita.

I wish that the schedule wasn't so spotty for Agents of SHIELD. And that does sort of contribute to the ratings issues. ABC is doing the same dang thing that Fox did with Joss Whedon's shows. Just put the episodes out in a regular way, and roll on with it.

Theres no way it wont be renewed for another season. Even if the ratings suck, itll last at LEAST until Avengers 2. If it loses money they can just write it off under the marketing budget for Age of Ultron.

I missed some shows and now Hulu only has 7 or so on it, and not even the last 7, just a random assortment. How does that make sense?

If Arrow wasn't just so much better at everything, then he can talk about "only losers don't like this show." Except that there's another comic book show who nails it, and your show doesn't know what the hell it's doing.

That was definitely the wrong tact to take, actor.

To some extent, he's right. Great television shows do go through a building phase where we learn about the characters and setting, which eventually informs the larger ideas that the rest of the series is going to promote. These become the great episodes of a series and pretty much sustain it in syndication later, so broadcasters don't mind either.

However, your show is boring, actor. Its boring. Are you telling me that if I had kept watching then some boring premise would be linked to some other boring premise to make a twice as boring premise? These characters I don't like because they lack interesting or compelling characteristics, are once I know more about their histories, going to crystallize into characters I do like in some highly implausible way?

At this point, actor, you should suggest to the writers that this whole first season was dream and the show is now about Ghostrider and the Hulk traveling across America kicking ass.

Man, one half-decent episode is all it takes for Fark to decide SHIELD has finally found its groove and will be henceforth awesome?

Oh so very much this. It's a comic book show that isn't ashamed of being a comic book show.

Critch: It's like nobody's ever seen a Whedon show before.  They always take a few to get their footing.

This isn't a Joss Whedon show. He wrote the pilot and it's been marketed as a Whedon show, but he doesn't have much input. The showrunners are Jeffrey Bell, Jed (not Joss) Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.

Sorry, but no.

I had three episodes of Arrow on the TiVo and only got through 1/2 of one of them before deleting the whole sorry mess. Marvel: Agents of Shield is a far better show - writing, acting and production-wise -  no matter how butthurt some gaggle of comic book collectors have gotten about it.

Yeah, I usually won't watch a series unless it has at least 2 seasons under it's belt and is available for streaming.

The golden age of TV is either over or coming to an end. 2008 was the best year for television and it has been getting worst ever since.

Everyone's just so boring, especially for a show based on the Avengers. I realize they can't have Thor and Iron Man in the show but does it have to be NCIS except with no interesting characters?

The first few episodes of Arrow weren't great but it has improved enormously. I can't think of another show that had such a jump in quality between the pilot episode and the first season finale.

Been with it since the beginning. Was it great? No. But it's fun and it doesn't cost me anything to watch, so why biatch?
Gotten way better. Tried to watch Arrow but I'm not a 14 year old girl.

I don't know, the Science twins are interesting to me. And Coulson too (even though, to me, it feels like he's under utilized. Like, he's just there to solve his own mystery in the background.) I'm with everyone else who says to give it more time.
