sno man: GoldDude: Mambo Bananapatch: It's exactly this sort of stupid shiat that's going to get him re-elected.

A thousand people jaywalk every day and no cop cares enough to even look at them. These cops saw their chance to ticket a celebrity and be in the news. The media piled on, including wrong reports that he'd been cited for public intoxication.

Mark my words, people are going to start feeling sorry for him.

Exactly.
This was the "top headline" story on the CBC website.  The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.  You know, the one we all have to pay for with our taxes?  That is supposed to be a fair and balanced reporting of the news?
For farks sake, it looks like the CBC is trying to compete with TMZ.

You must have missed the Ceeb crowing over breaking the Beibs arrest in T.O. B.S. first on Wed. or Thurs. what the hell ever night that was... TMZ north.

They've had budget cuts by the CPC, lost HNIC, this is what happens to a news org. that needs page hits to survive.

This part, right here, needs to stop.  The CPC needs to end the war on information or be ended.  The damage that F*ck Harper has done and not just on topic is going to take decades to undo.

hitmanric: I can honestly say I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for jaywalking. Must be an american thing. If jaywalkers were ticketed around here the citys book would be in the black in no time.

Eh? This happened in Coquitlam, not the US. I don't know of a lot of people getting jaywalking tickets at random times in random locations, since most people are smart enough not to do it in sight of a stationary police car and the moving ones will rarely come back for you, but every Canadian city I've ever lived in has handed them out like candy outside bars at/near closing time, especially along major routes like North Road.

Theory Of Null: This is just the calm before the storm.

New book coming out from Robyn Doolittle (Toronto Star) in which Renata Ford tells an acquaintance (secretly recording) that Rob had told her "I'm not giving up the blow" when he was elected.

/and I respectfully submit that it still might happen

That stretch of road is a really really stupid place to try to jaywalk.

Go home to TO, Rob, you're (quite likely) drunk.

This guy has me torn. On one hand, he's an embarrassment to the whole country, on the other hand, he's provided endless entertainment with his drunken shenanigans. Like him or not, it looks the Toronto, the center of the universe is going to re-elect him.
