This guy has me torn. On one hand, he's an embarrassment to the whole country, on the other hand, he's provided endless entertainment with his drunken shenanigans. Like him or not, it looks the Toronto, the center of the universe is going to re-elect him.

I love the guy in the video, "Cop car... Big guy, in a suit... That's gotta be Rob Ford" ... Awesome!

2014-02-01 01:06:20 PM
I'm glad he didn't get the public intoxication ticket.  Rob Ford should be granted immunity from public intoxication charges as they would prevent his basic right to be in public.  And ours to be entertained by his antics.

swaniefrmreddeer: ike him or not, it looks the Toronto, the center of the universe is going to re-elect him

So sad.  So very sad.  But possibly true.  The suburbanites love him.

2014-02-01 02:19:36 PM
But does he really feel the way he does?

Well, with him in a position of power you do not have to worry about the political system outsmarting the people.  Rather than feeling endangered, perhaps he actually empowers the common man!

Rick Mercer pointed out during the Mulroney Airbus scandal thing back when that the thought that Mulroney might be going to jail was well worth the dollar or so per Canadian it cost in the judgment. Kind of the same thing, really.

Damn, I had jaywalking in Regina. Do I get partial credit?

2014-02-01 02:26:43 PM
If Toronto decides they don't want him anymore, Atlanta might take him as mayor.

2014-02-01 02:26:50 PM
"I farked up, boys."

heh

2014-02-01 02:27:21 PM
My card says 'Bieberwalking', for some reason. Does that count?

2014-02-01 02:28:12 PM
Dammit.  I had $50 on "Jackin' it in San Diego"

2014-02-01 02:28:37 PM
Big guy. Probably wouldn't get from A to B if he didn't take shortcuts.

2014-02-01 02:28:42 PM
Nuts! I had "Jaywalking in Regina." So much for the down payment on the double-wide.

2014-02-01 02:29:32 PM
This is just the calm before the storm.

I see someone else thought they were pretty juicy odds, too.

2014-02-01 02:31:18 PM
That stretch of road is a really really stupid place to try to jaywalk.

Go home to TO, Rob, you're (quite likely) drunk.

Ditto. Watched too much South Park.
My runner-up bet involved ten gallons of maple syrup and an underage hooker.

2014-02-01 02:33:30 PM
Turn this guy up to 11.  Someone should tell him to try bath salts.

2014-02-01 02:34:54 PM
So much for 'naked in Guelph'. [tears ticket stub]

2014-02-01 02:39:31 PM
Who bet on this?

In the words of former Toronto Mayor, Mel "Big Boy" Lastman, "Nooooobody!"

That's a Canadian in-joke. They all are, to tell the truth, except the exports, eh?

Why did Rob Ford go to Vancouver, the drug capital of Canada, and get arrested for jaywalking?

Because his is trunk is full of junk.

2014-02-01 02:42:10 PM
I had "waving his exposed member at an attractive female reporter"

/and I respectfully submit that it still might happen

2014-02-01 02:44:26 PM
I can honestly say I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for jaywalking. Must be an american thing. If jaywalkers were ticketed around here the citys book would be in the black in no time.

2014-02-01 02:44:40 PM

Theory Of Null: This is just the calm before the storm.

New book coming out from Robyn Doolittle (Toronto Star) in which Renata Ford tells an acquaintance (secretly recording) that Rob had told her "I'm not giving up the blow" when he was elected.

/putting a toonie on "ODing in Sault Ste Marie with Justin Bieber"

I had him shooting heroin in Winnipeg, sooooo off.

2014-02-01 02:47:28 PM
Rob Ford isn't nearly clever enough to steal Leno's act.

2014-02-01 02:48:54 PM
'Jaywalking in Vancouver' would make a pretty good indie rock band name.

Eh? This happened in Coquitlam, not the US. I don't know of a lot of people getting jaywalking tickets at random times in random locations, since most people are smart enough not to do it in sight of a stationary police car and the moving ones will rarely come back for you, but every Canadian city I've ever lived in has handed them out like candy outside bars at/near closing time, especially along major routes like North Road.

2014-02-01 02:52:23 PM
I had soem scandal after he got elected mayor of DC

2014-02-01 03:00:20 PM

I'd like to jaywalk in Regina, or Mary Margaret, or Emma, or Red...

/wait, this isn't a "Once Upon a Time" thread?

Tickle Me Fordo

2014-02-01 03:11:28 PM
Yea, don't jaywalk near a skytrain station(I assume the one in the link) or its easy money for those poor, destitute policemen, who are always looking for a handout from the walking underprivileged(lazy).

Choking on his own vomit in a Windsor casino hotel room. Dammit!

It's funny, I've been following this clown's antic's entirely too closely, and was thinking after the lawsuit and budget shenanigans this week, and with him going to Van for a funeral, I might get a weekend off before Dolittle's book comes out next week...  (She's on Strombo Monday, and has the book release in town that night as well, and with Jon Stewart on Thurs. and look for other appearances too)

2014-02-01 04:32:55 PM
Sh*t! I had "getting his pole smoked in some seedy East Hastings dive by a crackwhore"

Bingo!

Boojum2k: If Toronto decides they don't want him anymore, Atlanta might take him as mayor.

Atlanta's metropolitan area has stolen enough from the North, going for Canada is a bit much.  Replacing your current mayor with Toronto's wouldn't fix that problem.

The only thing that the Atlanta metro area deserves is a second William T. Sherman inspired leveling of the area with 21st Century weaponry, followed by an expeditious reconstruction of the area.  After that, put it in permanent control of a state north of the Mason-Dixon.

In short, fix what Sherman, Grant, and the Reconstruction missed in that state.

Radak: I'm glad he didn't get the public intoxication ticket.  Rob Ford should be granted immunity from public intoxication charges as they would prevent his basic right to be in public.  And ours to be entertained by his antics.

Give him US citizenship in exchange for deporting Bieber.  Then let him loose in Vegas with the agreement to keep things quiet.

2014-02-01 04:57:15 PM
Can someone write an add-on for Firefox that screens out anything - Rob Ford or Justin Beiber, so no matter what site I go to, I never have to see that name again.

2014-02-01 05:01:22 PM
It's exactly this sort of stupid shiat that's going to get him re-elected.

A thousand people jaywalk every day and no cop cares enough to even look at them. These cops saw their chance to ticket a celebrity and be in the news. The media piled on, including wrong reports that he'd been cited for public intoxication.

Mark my words, people are going to start feeling sorry for him.
