(ABC Local)   Good: You're a field deputy for the sheriff's department. You have no office, no phone number issued to you and you spend your days at the country club. Better: The position pays you $171,000 a year   (abclocal.go.com) divider line 56

Kahabut: grinding_journalist: See also: Rhode Island's Nuclear Power Safety Inspector, a position that pays $75,000/yr....when there are no nuclear plants in RI.

How can you say that?  The man is clearly doing an amazing job.  There has never been a nuclear accident in RI, so obviously, he's doing a perfect job.

Is this irony?

With a fatal accident in the past and a research reactor currently in operation, it actually makes perfect sense to have some sort of inspection scheme.  But hey, big corrupt gubment, amiright?

Catsaregreen: zimbomba63: Field Deputy?  For $171k, I want to be a Field Marshall, with a baton and everything.

Sorry, but if you can't spell the name of the position correctly you don't get it.

/Fark Grammar Nazi

Yeah, I noticed that, after I hit "Add Comment".  Where's spell checker when you need it.  But, wait a second, I was told there would be no spelling required, for this position!  Plus, I have a disability, I'm mildly dyslexic (among other things that we're not going to get into).  So I better get the job or I'm running to the Feds.  You can apologize while we discuss my ideas about the uniform.  I'm thinking about something from around the Napoleonic period. You know, like a hussar's uniform, with a sabre, of course.

Done your orders are to take over for Von Paulus in Stalingrad.

/not a nazi but i play one on fark.

You know the only reason Hitler gave him a baton, was because he wanted Von Paulus to commit suicide, since no German Field Marshal had ever allowed themselves to be captured.

I know  that.   one of my hobbies is studying world war II.  and i was just trolling, poorly.

Ummmmmm.

But if you'd rather NOT have that inspected. . . . .

1. I'm pretty confident nuclear physicists at a science research facility can keep that shiat locked down.
2. Nuclear POWER. As in, he inspects safety systems in place in nuclear POWER stations. Of which there are none.
2a. The station you linked is research only, and doesn't power anything. (or at least, not commercially)

/I don't mean to be combative, but the point of the article I read about the guy is that he has nothing to do. Has an office, gov't car, everything- but there's nothing for him to inspect. Rarely in the office, but always tagging along on those "fact finding" trips and "industry conferences" in completely logical places like the Caribbean and Hawaii.
