I always thought a movie about a GPS possessed by a serial killer that gives you directions to drive off a cliff or into a lake or through a portal to hell or something, would have made a good movie.

Possessed my ass, that movie would work with a retarded driver that followed directions too literally.

Yeah, the whole "Peter Poon" thing caught my attention too.

Next there'll be a movie about a subscription website where the owner is a serial killer and uses the membership database to select his next target in between drunken blackouts.

Hello, this is Homer Simpson, AKA Happy Dude. The court has ordered me to call every person in town to apologize for my telemarketing scam. I'm sorry. If you can find it in your heart to forgive me, send one dollar to Sorry Dude, 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. You have the power.

Really, how is this dumber than The Ring? They made a remake and I think a sequel out of that and it was based on a VCR tape. And it was scary. Well, if you were high enough.

2014-01-31 08:54:37 PM
The sequel will be about an evil Facebook profile that drives everyone who reads it insane.

But killer cell phones?

My wife did not believe me when I assured her that Kristen Bell actually starred in an evil cell phone movie.

In that one the cell phones didn't kill but wiped(rebooted?) peoples' brains or some crap but didn't kill them

I don't see how they can make a scary movie about email.  It takes, what?  Five seconds or less to log into my old Yahoo account -- what are they going to do with the other 1 hour 29 minutes and 55 seconds?

2014-01-31 09:45:23 PM
That sounds like it's going to be the biggest hit of 1998.

It doesn't need to be possessed; they already manage to strand drivers in remote areas because they can't tell the difference between logging roads and interstates.

How 'bout a movie where series of satanic numbers are contained within Telex codes?  Or particular groups of shorthand symbols written together open the gates of Hell? Oooooo.....those are scary enough for Count Floyd!

Will it be a link to one of those YouTube shock videos? You know, the ones where the sound is low so you turn it up and then suddenly the innocuous video becomes a screaming corpse at full volume that then stabs you from your monitor?

You MUST read that one before giving up on King, it's  quite possibly one of the best books he has ever written.

2014-01-31 11:39:22 PM
I never made it through Cell, it was dull from the beginning and i heard it didn't have an end. But that book came out nearly a decade ago and King hasn't exactly been shy about writing since. His career is filled with duds. Rose Madder? Dreamcatcher wtf was that?

But writing the guy off because of a shiatty book? That's dumber than a bad book.

LOL, well apparently Dreamcatcher was written in a cocaine fueled haze, so yeah, there's that. :-)

On the postive side, that was the last book he did before finally cleaning up for good.

I think there was a horror movie in the early 2000's that had something to do with people being killed by a missed call, or something similarly idiotic.  I think it was titled "One Missed Call."

I never saw it; I just remember seeing posters for it in a mall and thinking it was the dumbest movie concept I had seen to date.

The Signal (2007) pretty much covers this concept in a pretty unique way. It's three short stories about a well, a signal.

My idea for a tech murder mystery involves a killer that sends clues via snapchat.  You have to find where he is. He sends clues to the whereabouts of the people he kidnaps, but if you take a screen shot they die

How about a horror movie based on Chatrolette? "This time, you'll be hoping to only see the penis."

No, it really isn't. And he's about 3 decades late on getting in on the fixation pop culture had w/ the JFK assassination.

The book is crap. Worse it's crap that's already been done. "Go back in time to stop the JRK assasination." How original!

The Ring is a really good creepy horror movie. The Ring 2 sucked.
