That was last year. She's 19 now.

uber humper: White_Scarf_Syndrome: This is good.  When I got popped, I blew a .10.  The law had been changed from .10 to .08 about a month earlier.  I honestly thought I was OK to drive.  A month earlier I would've been fine.

Ah my early twenties.  What a dumbfark I was.

Still am, in different ways.

FYI, you can never visit Canada w/ a DUI conviction.

That's weird... I got 2 in my younger days and got in just fine e when I went there.

Not that I am super proud of it, but my one and only DUI puts that one to shame.

If by "great" you mean she bites you while quasi-conscious.

She should do time for this.

If she's *legally* drunk, then what's the problem?

It turned out the vehicle belonged to Demery's boyfriend, and she did not have permission to drive it, police said.

Either she's taking it up the chute or that is more properly phrased "EX boyfriend" And even then, that's what you get for sticking your j-honson in crazy.

Here's the thing.., When someone is out of their gourd they can plea temporary insanity, get checked into a mental institution, get checked out and medicated and go back to what's left of their life.

So, the blackout drunk or Ambien pilot is out of their mind. They shouldn't be driving, and if they were aware they wouldn't be, but they're out of their minds. Even Seneca referred to getting hammered as renting madness. People who do stupid things that earn police attention while out of their gourd should be referred to proper treatment, with Naltrexone or antabuse, instead of being thrown in jail.

And fark AA. If you sit with a bunch of people talking about the glory days of your alcohol you're engaging in ironic process theory (don't think of a white bear). You hear about it's success from the one in twenty that stay sober for the long run. If you need to break an addiction you change. Change your friends, change your lifestyle, change your location. And maybe get a hobby that will fill your head when you start thinking about your problem substance.

Well it's a stupid name for a law, but the law is a good idea. The penalty for being really farking drunk behind the wheel should be worse than for blowing a .08. The former is far more dangerous and far less likely to be a foolish misjudgment where someone had a couple drinks and thought they were okay.

/just saying...

She gets all those charges and biebs is squeaky clean

As much as anything, this law was passed as State revenue enhancement.  $1000 reinstatement fee for your license, etc.  Most folks in Michigan who get DUI will spend $10,000 by the time they are driving legally.  It gets really expensive if you're a repeat offender or a Super-Drunk.

I am sure it is labeled $upper Drunk for $aftey reasons...

.17 is not super drunk. Not saying being behind the wheel is a good idea.

Considering they keep trying to lower the "drunk" level to around .02 around here, I supposed "Super Drunk" now is just regular old fashioned "slightly buzzed" when I was first learning to drive.

/ Hell, I was about her age when I got the "why don't you take a break and have some coffee at this here diner" break from a decent law enforcement officer.
