I read a bit of a gut-puncher of a column last week that claimed that Bieber's arrest proved rock and roll was dead.  The idea is that we're all harrumphing this and outraging that over what would have been just a Tuesday for Keith Moon back in the day.  Meanwhile modern "rockers" hardly even get in trouble anymore.

So we have to get our Ozzy/The Who/Zeppelin/Stooges-level mayhem from people like LiLo, Bieber, and Britney Spears these days.  Amy Winehouse was about as close to a legit-music trainwreck that we have these days.  Sad, even if a bit hyperbolic.

Look at the life the kid has had, frankly we should be surprised he's not an even bigger douche than he is.  I doubt there is anyone on here, who, if they grew up being rich, famous, and having pussy handed to them on a platter, wouldn't have been a douche by the age of 20.

Rock and roll is dead because it's mass-produced, focus-tested, and the sales are artificially inflated.

Also, to compare this douche to Keef back in the day?

July 2, 1969, East Sussex, England. It is widely agreed upon that on this night, Brian Jones, an original member of the Rolling Stones, was murdered at home in his swimming pool by Keith Richards and Queen Elizabeth II while Mick Jagger and David Bowie were having sex upstairs in the house. Keith Richards went to karma court and was sentenced to one full free fall from a coconut tree, a sentence he completed in 2006. The queen was never prosecuted. The remaining Rolling Stones went on to tour for 1,000 more years.

THAT was awesome.

I'm not comparing him to Keith Moon, because of course Keith did all that while also being an immensely talented and inspiring musician.  I'm impugning the "rockers" of today that are so straight-laced that Justin Bieber is the "bad boy" of music.  SMH.

I don't mind if he becomes a founding member of the 19 Club. 8 years is too long to wait.

Does that mean he'll die by the age of 27?

The reason Beebs is not seen as a rock and roll bad boy is because he is not. He is a mincing little pop-star ponce who wants to play "thug", dress like a Jersey Shore skank, and hides behind his bodyguards at the first sign of trouble.

I think Bieber is annoying as fark, but I don't wish death upon him. Just for him to disappear back into the Canadian wilderness. Hoping someone dies is pretty farked up.

I don't really care what my favorite musicians do off stage. If they want to fark everything they see while burning hotel rooms, good for them, I guess, but if they're just regular people that make kickass music, I couldn't care less. Saying rock and roll is dead because there aren't regular stories of drug-fueled rampages is stupid.

I'll grant you that one Subby, but there is one significant difference. Many of those musical forebears you mentioned... they actually had talent.  Leave it to Bieber, not so much.

So lets say that Justin Bieber goes to Jail.

Being the douche he is, you know he's going to write on the wall in protest. "Free JB!"

What I hope he learns is that his cellmate is dyslexic.

The Rolling Stones did not get popular because they were attractive people, pretty much the opposite.

Rock and Roll as a pop genre died during the early 60s. Rock as a pop genre died sometime in the 70s. By the 80s rock-derived genres were almost entirely not mainstream.

It is now reported that Bieber's private jet was searched by drug detection dogs. Bieber was taken into custody for awhile and although the dogs detected the scent, they didn't actually find anything. So Bieber was released.

Now I would like to point out that there is a much more effective way the government could have dealt with this.

But he isn't entertaining, destructive, or talented. Moon blew up toilets, trashed entire hotel floors, and also redefined rock&roll drumming as we know it today. Bieber? Throws eggs at houses and punches a limo driver in the back of the head. At least the Red Hot Chili Peppers used to wear socks on their dongs.

exactly - what Bieber is, is a mockery.

There's only 2 ways out of this for him.  Pick a few close friends and tell everyone else to fark off and get high out of the public spotlight while turning on his tween fans or go full bore and drive the Lambo at top speed until he ends up like Leif Garret or Leif Garret's friend.  I was never a fan of Leif Garret either, but to hear him talk about how he wrecked his Porsche and killed his buddy is thought provoking to say the least.  At least Garret realized he needed to change after that.

Throwing eggs at your neighbors house and driving Lambos at 55 - or 25, or whatever it was, is no way to go through life.  I could throw eggs at my neighbor's house and take off in my farking Chrysler faster than he was driving that Lambo.  It still wouldn't be rock and roll though.

Evidence used in previous complaints cannot be admitted in the current proceedings... we rule against the defendant.
