Gah, is there any minor slight that the right wingers won't take completely disproportional umbrage to?

MSNBC needs to grow some balls. Don't apologize for telling the truth, and stop giving a damn if you hurt the poor little teabaggers feelings.

Exactly. The proper response to an ultimatum from Reince Priebus is to fax him a scan of your balls.

Apparently telling the truth is offensive to the GOP. Well of course it is.

"Having revealed themselves as despicable bigots, the folks at MSNBC have now deleted and apologized for their offensive tweet,"

How does pointing out that "some" people on the right wing might not like bi-racial couples make MSNBC bigots?

All this sounds like the tweet hit a little too close to home.

Ambivalence: I don't watch MSNBC but I am a little disappointed they apologized for this. They didn't direct the comment to the GOP, so it was a bit out of hand for the GOP to take umbrage for it. Although, the fact that the GOP response was so quick and forceful did kind of prove a point about the right's tendency to freak out.

It's not like they said 'Republicans', or 'Fox News Watchers', or even 'American Conservatives'.  It can apply to skinhead groups around the world.  But Prebius and Malkin jumped up, said 'Hey, that's us!' and got outraged.. or already were, they usually are.

yes it is extremely racist to point out that in the past, conservative racists reacted badly to the cheerios commercial featuring a mixed-race family

I'm a left-winger, and I've given up on MSNBC. Their infantile presentation (of views I actually agree with) makes me gag. (I'm looking at you, Al Sharpton.)

That said, this whole tweet controversy is a very VERY big deal, and I hope it's resolved soon.

"Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family."

I remember how MSNBC went 'awww' over the Romney biracial family photo. Those clowns only open their mouths to change feet. Kinda like many of the lefties here on Fark.

While I don't think MSNBC should necessarily have apologized, taking a random cheap-shot at the right wing in a tweet about a cereal commercial is just stupid.

MSNBC, as a network, is insufferable save Maddow/Hayes/Kornaki, who are some of the best on TV. If they'd follow that model... smart, sharp, fact based reporting... and get rid of Sharpton, Matthews, Harris-Perry, O'Donnell, and everyone on Morning Joe except maybe Barnacle, they'd be better off.

A) I don't watch MSNBC
B) This whole thing is stupid butt hurt from the right.
C) Accusing people of racism, and even if you are wrong, is NOT racism. The right keep trying to redefine the term "racism" like they do with so many words.

Linux_Yes: netcentric: ...a lot of people have given up on MSNBC

and moved to CNN??  FOX???      the Internet is still the best news source (google news, etc, but MSNBC/PBS is the best you'll find on TV.   unless you got smart and bought a Roku and moved to digital TV and saved money.

if you want Corporate Propaganda, tune in to FOX or CNN. (Corporate News Network)

and cut commercials by 90%.

You are a sad dude, then.  I see nothing wrong or why MSNBC has to apologize.  You are acting like those clowns on Fox and the right-wing echo chamber that sees any slight as equivalent to burning down their church with their family in it.

Give me a break.  Another BS outrage from the right and they hooked you line and sinker.  Stupid.  If you act that way, MSNBC prolly doesn't need you "backing" them anyway, as you have the torsional rigidity of wet tissue paper.

There was nothing wrong with the tweet, and the right acts like spoiled bullies once again, and the spineless left cower in submission.  THAT should be the outrage.

I'm pretty much done with news.

MSNBC sucks aside from Maddow and is mostly left-wing propaganda.
CNN is unquestionably dumbed down and terrible from top to bottom.
CBS News, shiat those guys can't even get 60 Minutes right anymore.
ABC News - Pretty sure the only news they break is when something happens to someone from the Bachelor shows.
NBC News - Do they still do news?
Fox News is right-wing propaganda.
NPR - Gone way downhill in the past couple of years.
BBC - Probably the best western news agency, and their journalists are jumping ship to work for Al Jazeera.
WaPost/NYT - Can't keep anyone around more than 5 minutes and all their shiat ends up as links from HuffPo anyhow.

We're all going to be getting our scoops from news aggregators from now on I think. It really will be a case of we report you decide.

So MSNBC said, essentially, "There's going to be a bi-racial family in a commercial again.  Right-wing nutjobs will have a problem with this."  Didn't some right-wing nut-jobs have a problem before?  What am I missing?

I still don't see what the problem is. The right wing is defined by their racism, they're farking proud of it.

MSNBC took the high road with the apology and still, by that action, shows that the GOP/Priebus is a whiny baby.

As for MSNBC itself, the rest of it varies widely in quality, but it's hard to to better on cable news than Chris Hayes' and Rachel Maddow's shows.
