Not a "disorder", it's a "quality of life" issue.

I don't see the point in creating a new disorder for it. Addiction sufficiently covers what they're describing here, I'd say.

PRESCRIPTION-ONLY DRUGS SHOULD NOT BE LEGAL TO ADVERTISE ON TV.

What purpose could they POSSIBLY serve except to get someone to take a drug that their doctor doesn't think they need?

The drug has already been invented, it's called caffiene. You just have to discontinue use...IF YOU DARE!

BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Caffeine can constrict blood vessels.   While not as immediately dangerous as alcohol, it's as bad as some of the risks of cigarette smoking.

Yeah, I have a soda with caffeine once in a while, like a case lasts a year.

FTA:  . . . even if they have another condition that may be exacerbated by the caffeine, such as a pregnancy,  . . .

How exactly does one exacerbate pregnancy?

My doctor gave me pills for this,
I wash them down with 5-hour energy drinks.

Legit disorder or not, there's something wrong with people who claim they can't be civil until they have their morning coffee.

Since the new standard of "normal" is to have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder, when they finally get around to naming a disorder for those who don't, will the universe implode?

In Canada it's illegal.

You don't think a pregnancy can be made worse? Have you ever met a pregnant woman?

I worry more now about people with the disorder known as:

Hyper
Involuntary
Panic
Stress
Tension
Elevation
Response

because they drink large amounts of caffeine too.

I wish they'd stop trying to treat so-called "schizophrenics". It's an invented disorder that doesn't really exist. This is true because at one time it was not formally recognized as a disorder therefore it must be a fake thing that was created just to sell pills.

/ also, fark those farking pill-popper insomniacs, narcoleptics, sociopaths and paranoids and their "made-up" diseases that are just about marketing drugs

Yep.  My doctor has never slapped his head during a visit and said, "You know what?  There's a drug you need that totally escaped me until I saw this ad on TV last night!"

He is also brutal on the visiting pharma reps.  Hates them like poison.  I saw him eviscerate one once.  Guy just strolled through the waiting area and right back into the offices and exam rooms.  "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!"  Guy was white as a sheet when he slinked out of the building.

I love my doctor.

What is sad is that I laughed my fat ass off at this comment. You now owe me one mechanical keyboard. The other thing is...I'm laughing my fat ass off because I'm reading this with my third cup of black coffee this morning. (And I make it Navy-style--strong enough to peel the paint off The Big Stick.)

Are you saying my mother has a problem with caffeine? She could wake up at 2am, drink a cup of coffee, and fall asleep at 2.15am.

If this means my coffee habit will be covered by my insurance, I'll be happy to be diagnosed with this "condition".

Well, unless Big Pharm insists I have to drink the most expensive brew available. If I have to start every morning with a big steaming cup of cat poop coffee, I'm going to develop a whole new set of neuroses.

For me, drinking anything caffeinated when I was pregnant made me nauseous.  And there's no need to encourage that kind of feeling when it's already a side effect of pregnancy.

I think you're both operating under the common misconception that "exacerbate" simply means to increase or intensify. It doesn't.

I simply cannot believe the lack of emotional intelligence from the p0sts in this thread.

Way too many people suffer from serious, medical conditions and mocking this newly discovered affliction simply perpetuate antiquainted stereotypes. Our healthcare system is one of the best in the world and to NOT use our abilities to aid those stricken by said ailments is plain ignorant.

What they need is the help of the knowledgable and empathetic medical community, as well as programs (such as the well respected and proven 12-step methodologies) to improve those afflicted by yet another tramatic condition. The rest of you 'haters' are simply projecting your own self-loathing upon these victims. Get mature and get a clue.
