Really, it took that long to realise the two approaching vehicles were side by side?

The day we replace trucks as a form of transporting goods is going to be a great day.

I do have to say, it looked like the driver was going way too fast for conditions. Case in point: this video.

Needs repeating, if only there were some dedicated, isolated, proprietary system to haul huge amounts of good with only 2 drivers.

My vote is for this:

Either that or the DC-10's/757's they tend to use to move everything around.

From the second frame in I thought "Hey that's a great way to spin out."

Then I saw the tractor trailer.

The best part is you KNOW that Semi didn't stop.

Both drivers were stupid.  Slow down, idiots.

Looks like a helmet cam, driver was probably on a snowmobile, so probably not going too fast for conditions. The truck driver on the other hand...

That dude screams like a girl. I laughed.

Our train systems are at capacity. Seriously. Hell, they can't even get enough truck drivers to haul the rest.

2014-01-31 10:04:05 AM
Ok, so I have no hate for truckers or whatever.

I just know that dude trying to pass the plow was 100% in the wrong. He misjudged his ability to pass the plow.

I mean, I can hear the idea that the car was going fast too, sure. At the end of the day, it's his lane. The car is not responsible for the truck being unable to properly pass the vehicle it is trying to pass.

I believe it was probably more 'why the fark haven't you gotten back over' reaction than anything.  Not like he had anywhere to go.

He started to slow down almost instantly, I think he just didn't want to lock up his brakes.

Yep.  But I'm quite familiar with those conditions.  Hell, last week I drove from Chicago to Rochester and back through all that shiat that was going on up there.  Typical spinning out and slides but no stupidity like that.  I'm also pretty familiar with mountain driving and if you come around a curve and see that even in dry conditions (substituting the snowplow for something else) you let off the gas and be ready...it looks like this guy just kept trucking.

2014-01-31 10:26:14 AM

Whodat: Who the f passes the snow plow???

Yeah, there is all KINDS of fail in that... You are driving onto an unplowed stretch of road. You are going to get hit by at least some of the blowback from the blade, regardless of which way it's angled. A misjudgment when you pull back in is going to result in a very nasty accident. They're going uphill.

And then you have the whole passing without having enough clear space in the first place. I can almost guarantee you that it was a no passing zone, and even when the road is covered in show, the yellow signs are there.

It looked like a helmet mounted cam, maybe the angle of the cam distorts the car hood.

2014-01-31 10:40:12 AM
It's a law of physics that big rigs can't pass another vehicle unless their delta V is less than 1 mph.

2014-01-31 10:48:22 AM
I almost got run off the road by a hillbilly in a big rig this morning because he decided he was changing lanes (illegally, since he's not even supposed to be in the left most lane) whether anybody was currently passing him or not.

Farking methed-up idiots.

studebaker hoch: It's a law of physics that big rigs can't pass another vehicle unless their delta V is less than 1 mph.

You forgot the most important part, that the must be at the bottom of a hill, right before they start back uphill, before they can cut you off to pass another truck - which invariably has more grunt and stymies the passers attempts.

/ if you've ever driven in Pennsyltuckiana you know what I mean. These kamakaze's used to be worse, the advent of more powerful and aero trucks has helped, as has the JB Hunt's of the world figuring out that a 56 mph governor is a bad idea, but the farktards are still out there.. rolling roadblocks.

Well of course!  Just in case he gets sideswiped by a semi passing a snowplow and gets hung up on the guardrail!  Doesn't everyone??

Compare the height of the camera with the oncoming truck.  The camera is also in a truck.

I hope that in the event I'm faced with mortal danger I can either come up with something witty, or just maintain stoic silence.  I don't know if it will go down that way, but I wouldn't want the last few seconds of my life to be represented by a scream like that.

2014-01-31 11:07:57 AM
Who hasn't seen one of these idiots cruising along, way too fast for the conditions, because they have a 4-wheel drive vehicle? They think they can ignore a layer of ice on a mountain road.

As soon as he came around the curve and saw two sets of headlights side by side, he should have been slowing.

He's also one of those people who thinks that if someone is doing something wrong, the fact that they are in the wrong somehow protects him from harm.

Other drivers do stupid stuff. Being a good driver means anticipating other peoples' stupidity. He got what he deserved.

Truck was going too fast and noticed danger and slowed down FAR to late.   Semi was passing up a hill and a snowplow, WTF was he thinking.  So looks like everyone took a ride on the fail boat.

It's mounted on the inside of the windshield of whatever he's driving.

1)  Notice the lack of wind noise?
2)  How about the lack of a screaming snowmobile engine?
3)  How about the complete utter lack of head movement even as the truck is bouncing from posts of the guardrail its now straddled on and comes to a rest?
4)  How about the fairly clear audio of him talking and screaming like a little girl?

Personally, I think it's an older BMW of some sort based on the hood profile.  The wide angle GoPro lens has a way of distorting things up close.

I noticed all of those things when I watched it a second time, after coffee, which is why I corrected myself.

Apparently happened in Canada, Ontario providence.  The semi never stopped and cops we looking for him.  The guy was in a Dodge Ram and other than a lost man card he's ok.

Dude appears to be driving a 2013 Kenworth
Notice the narrowing hood ridge.  The height, quietness of ride, and radio playing in background all corroborate.

My dashcam can make it look like I'm going a lot faster than I really am. Has to do with the distortion I guess.

Looks like the guy was driving another truck to me judging by the hood. The guy passing the plow UPHILL in another big rig was the dipshiat here, but the real problem here is the screamer...

Judgement?
