That's not justification enough in my book compared to the hole in the 4th wall made by switching actors for a major character.  Millions of dollars are being spent... make your casting decisions carefully

Pretty sure the actor didn't want to come back. Not much you can do there. Daario's way too minor a character to drop a sweetheart contract on. They might just make up a new character to replace him, which would be fine. He's totally forgettable from a plot significance standpoint in the books.

I would say without Daario the entire ridiculously lengthy plot of Across the Narrow Sea would be much less dragged out.  He may be minor in face time, but he's the most important character in Daenerys' mind for quite a long time.

Millions are being spent, but the cast is enormous. I'd wager anyone on that show who isn't Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, or Kit Harrington probably isn't getting a huge payday. Plus, it's a very long shoot, so I'm sure several of the actors are conflicted as to whether they want to have four or five months a year where they are in Iceland, Morocco, or Belfast, and can't exactly go off to do other movies, shows, or plays. That is, unless they want to spend tens of thousands of dollars going back and forth on international flights.

I'm amazed they've kept the amount of actors that they have.

I'm going to ask the important question here, for science - does the book specifically say "in the ass?"  Because that would be pretty funny.

stoli n coke: I'm amazed they've kept the amount of actors that they have.

This is my one major concern about the show getting a proper conclusion.  Even though the show is crazy expensive, it seems HBO is willing to go with it for the foreseeable future, but I don't know how long the contracts are for the principle actors.  Between the child-actors getting older, and all the actors wanting to further their own careers, I'd be worried if the show doesn't somehow finish up in its seventh season.  However, at the current pace relative to the books, it would probably require something like ten years to cover the whole story.

Specifically, no.

Something to the effect: Daario farked her every conceivable way a man can fark a woman. So definitely anal. And probably ATM as well.

I'm not worried about Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams aging out of their roles since they're already almost 18 and 17 respectively.  Same thing with Jack Gleeson, he's 21.

As for pacing, I'm not sure if they're going to cover Books 4 & 5 (they're set concurrently, so they're basically one big book) in one season or two.  In my opinion, not a lot happens to advance the plot in Book 4.  And while more happens in Book 5, I can see them covering everything important that happens in one season.  Although, realistically, I'd bet that they're going to do Books 4 & 5 over two seasons because who knows when "Winds of Winter" is going to be published and it's probably more money for HBO to produce more episodes.

I think Bran is probably the biggest problem for aging.  Rickon could probably be recast without anyone caring.  You're probably right about Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams not aging too noticeably at this point (at least nothing that good makeup can't adjust for onscreen).

As for the pacing of the show, I think this is pretty much where we stand:
Season 1: Book 1
Season 2: Book 2
Season 3: First half of Book 3
Season 4: Second half of Book 3
Season 5/6: Books 4/5, chronologically
Season 7: Book 6?
Season 8: Book 7?

I haven't read the books past the second one, so I don't know how practical this is.  Eight seasons for a show this big is asking a lot, and this is assuming that: 1) All the remaining books can be fit into a single season per book and 2) Martin actually wraps it up in Book 7.

I'm still somewhat concerned that we'll end up with a very rushed pacing towards the end for the sake of wrapping up.  It will be like Season 4 of Babylon 5.

Season 5 will cover both books 4 & 5. They're certainly long on page count but plot-wise, there's simply not enough for two seasons. Already, several characters this season are going to start using material from books 4 & 5.

Book 6 will probably be out next spring which buys another year but season 7 will probably be almost completely invented, if broadly in line with how GRRM will end the books.
