Not sure why it is considered ridiculous. Possessing pot is a crime in NJ; they make no allowance for medical marijuana.

However, he does have a legitimate medicinal need for marijuana; to deny him his medicine would open them up to lawsuits.

So they let him out; in theory, he leaves the state to toke up; then he returns.

On the face of that, I don't see the problem. "In the meanwhile..." might well change things (such as legalizing weed, medicinal or not) but....

"...he's basically seeking to overturn the criminal marijuana statutes in New Jersey. And no, he's not kidding. And yes, his case seems pretty airtight, quite frankly. Let's nutshell, shall we? From what I wrote last year: Marijuana is a Schedule I drug in New Jersey. Under state law, a drug is Schedule I if, among other things, it "has no accepted medical use in treatment in the United States." Well, New Jersey has recognized its medical use, as has nearly half the country. So it seems like it shouldn't be a Schedule I. And if it's not Schedule I, it really should be a Schedule IV, which would basically decriminalize/legalize it."

FTFA: "New Jersey has recognized its medical use, as has nearly half the country "

The argument he is making, and it seems a logically sound one, is that since NJ has acknowledged that marijuana has medical uses, it can no longer be legitimately classified as a Schedule I drug, because that's reserved for drugs that have no medical benefit. And if it's not Schedule I, it's Schedule IV, which essentially decriminalizes it.

Obama may have told the DEA to back off but, we could end up with another executive that's anti-cannabis enough to hijack any progress made so far.  Let's encourage the the rest of the states to do what our government was designed to do.  Allow the STATES to dictate to the federal government what policy should be.  Most Americans seem to be too busy waving flags and screaming bout Merikan patriotism to remember that it is the states who should have the power.  Since the Fed has refused to follow their own advice for decades on marijuana decriminalization, it should be clear that the states must flip one after another until it makes the federal prohibition look even more ridiculous than it already does.  I welcome pre-1937 cannabis status.

Forchion, who has a rare form of bone cancer, was serving a nine month sentence related to a marijuana charge. And every 20 days, the judge would let him out of jail so he could ... smoke marijuana.

Stupidity knows no bounds...

It cost $394 million to set up the Obamacare website. There are only 316 million people in the USA. The government could have just given us a million dollars each to buy our own health insurance (and then some).

Not to rag on Obamacare or Obama... My point is that we give too much money to our government - period. This is not a partisan problem by any means. We hardly get anything back in return - except misuse and abuse of taxpayer funds... Not to mention the secret black projects (UFO related?) that siphon a good chunk away...

Is there really even a benefit to the current system of government we have now? Are 300 year old documents even worth following still? Let alone belief systems that are 2000 years old that follow no logic or reasoning whatsoever?

I know I know... Big questions.

The problem with human beings is that a 'pecking order' does exist. People DO give authority over themselves to other people.

When will we see a better way of doing things? Can't we think of something better now? Or do we have to keep following how others did it that were born hundreds of years ago...?

Being energy efficient means that we keep adapting - keep looking for better ways of doing things. We aren't even cutting it close, my friends...

I'll just keep posting this link (guy can smoke in whatever State he wants to and has been getting 9 oz. a MONTH courtesy of the taxpayer, since 1982):

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/man-sets-marijuana-record-smokes-1150 00 -joints-provided/story?id=9159281

When he and the remaining few `compassionate use' patients asked the Feds to conduct tests on them to reveal any long term deleterious effects of all that smoking - the Feds refused (2006).  The patients then had their own testing done.  Other than acute bronchitis (smoking) nothing was revealed that could be attributed to the marijuana (other than the marijuana allowing them to conduct a more normal life).

Most voters drink booze and don't think independent of other people. How likely do you think it will be that I get voted into any office, considering the level of awareness of most people?

Not to say that booze is evil or wrong, and I am certainly not judging other people... I just think that expanding awareness with psychedelics recreationally is about as 'evil' as being an alcoholic or a cigarette smoker. The difference is, one vice actually increases awareness and intelligence (to some degree), while the other creates social dramas, homelessness, violence, cirrhosis and other significant issues.

People allow themselves to be charmed by sociopathic personalities in government and corporations too easily. We give away our liberties... too easily. Most people follow ideas and systems that clearly have no logic in place that just don't work. Why exactly is cannabis even illegal? There really aren't any good reasons, except people 'in authority' say that it should be...

The government does not work for the people. The people work for the government. In my mind, this is a HUGE problem. If people refuse to grow in awareness and spiritually, we will never evolve into something better. People should be even more idealistic - not less. Be even more visionary... Create things... Expect more out of life... All of us settle for a system that is most certainly disfunctional and does not work effectively. People really need to learn to use their minds more...

It's a tall order, but we can do it. We live in an age where ideas are spread rapidly now. We are growing faster now than we ever have in the past.

The internet is a very powerful apparatus for spreading intelligence.

Dude, can I buy some DMT from you?

I haven't had the pleasure of trying it yet. But you can buy salvia divinorum online (in most states it is still legal)... I recommend buying the highest potency available, because it elicits an out of body experience. It is not 'fun' or recreational by any means, but it most certainly is a life-changing experience (unlike Coors Light). While the effects only last about 15 minutes, the way you view and see reality itself will change completely. From my opinion, it allows the user to see reality as more of a 'multidimensional' experience. It takes a very strong mind and intellect to be brave enough to want to have such experiences.

Most people are concerned with belonging and fitting in with others (we all are to some degree), and when you have these types of experiences, it tends to separate you from the herd, so to speak. But people NEED to be separated from the pack - seriously. Nothing says this more than the term 'human stampede' (Black Fridays anyone?)... People need to be a little more grounded in reality, I think, rather than a closed-minded follower and consumer.

What would happen if everyone just stopped voting and paying taxes? Maybe instead of biatching about the government, we should change how it functions, and stop empowering those that SEEK power over others. If most people don't want change, or worse - aren't even aware that they need it - how can any of us change anything?

A nine-month sentence... "related to" a marijuana charge?

What did he do, assault the arresting officer or commit blatant contempt of court by yelling yo mamma jokes over the prosecution when it was trying to present?

When the article is  obviously trying to hide something from me I tend to assume it's something that breaks their narrative... in fact, I would wager I'm imagining something worse than what they're actually covering up (i.e. I'm figuring he's an actual criminal that deserves to be in jail, like they were throwing charges at him to get him away from a partner because they couldn't get a domestic battery conviction to stick).

Sort of case in point why, as a news reporter, you shouldn't be really, really obviously intentionally vague about things.  You're the only group of people that have lied to us more consistently than politicians, so trying to leave things to implication is gonna backfire on you.

// Note: I'm aware I could look this up, this is a complaint about shiatty reporting that would get you chucked out of a news club in grade school, not really a comment on the story itself.

What's really happening in our government? What does it know? As strange as this sounds, the highest echelons of not just our government, but ALL governments, must have something to do with psychic knowledge, some kind of multidimensional awareness, and developing intelligence of learning what our place in the Universe really is. I really highly doubt the intelligence communities' primary focus is on foreign intelligence. It's much much bigger than that. There is a reason why intelligence via remote viewing was developed in the program called STARGATE.

If you want to learn how to remote view - start with connection of consciousness. Have a friend or wife and yourself practice with you. All you have to do is think about one another at the exact same moment when you are physically separated. That's it. Easy... Every time you think about someone, the other person can FEEL it. Yes indeed... So the longer the focus, the stronger the intent - the stronger the feeling is. When 2 people, separated by space, think about each other at the exact same moment, with this type of knowledge and awareness I am expressing here, something magical happens. Discover it.
