TheLopper: Lost Thought 00: Why on God's green Earth would he go on Maddow? What did he think was going to happen?

Maybe he was going to give her a good strumping.

Oh man, I loved that thread.

someonelse: Cletus C.: someonelse: Cletus C.: Daily Kos leads with the race card and calls relatively benign and typically politically partisan tweets hate speech.

Isn't that just the cutest thing.

Yes, that is so much more disturbing than a member of Congress displaying deranged incoherence. You really cut to the heart of the issue there.

When liberals get all shrill it detracts from the issue, as well.

So, the point you are making here, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that both sides are bad.

No, I think the point he's making is that an incomprehensible word salad consisting of platitudes, hyperbole and illiterate sentence structures are as good as any request for clarification of such.

2014-01-30 10:38:20 AM

someonelse: Wow. What a muddled, soft-headed mess he was. It's amazing how much he sounded like your average FARK poster suffering from Obama Derangement Syndrome. I don't know why it's so incredible to me when I see members of Congress display the same level of derp I see on the Internet daily, but it is.

For some reason we still expect higher standards from someone who actually had to get elected versus someone whose hobby is spending five bucks to shiat in their own mouth on the internet.

The evidence of course suggests that this expectation is foolish.

2014-01-30 10:39:27 AM
I believe people have uncovered incontrovertible evidence that some of Obama's ancestors lived in the continent of Africa, and may have had darker-hued skin color.  Thus the expression and historical legitimacy of "presidential executive orders" is meaningless, so black terrorists and Obamaphones or Karl Marx and therefore.

Maddow is clearly a liberal. Everyone knows that. But she is not partisan. She does not blindly support Democrats by any stretch of the imagination. If you watched her show with any regularity, you would know that she very frequently is critical of the Obama administration. In addition, criticizing conservatives is not necessarily a display of partisanship and certainly is not cheerleading for Obama. Sorry if reality isn't as binary as simple minded thinkers need it to be.

Not really, Ace.

I am specifically calling out the Daily Kos writer for this line:

There's no other way to say it: Obama Derangement Syndrome.  For some people seeing a black man address the nation on national tee vee causes them to lose their shiat.

When you have some idiot on the ropes why is it necessary to fark up the opportunity by going all blabbering moron yourself?

Later he gives us this gem:

Embarrassed that Rachel was exposing his hate speech on live tee vee,  ...

Hate speech? Read the tweets the mouth-breather posted. Calling them hate speech is beyond stupid.

Letting imbecilic right wing lunatics spout their loony conspiracies and them calling them on it should be done more often. There shouldn't even be people willing to pretend there is really an option of political discourse with extremists like him,in an educated society, they should be pointed and laughed at and treated like the clowns they are. And it's "aisle"

You understand that while calling out both sides for crap is what journalists do, trying to make it fair with equal airtime doesn't make it journalism. The crazy, outright lies on one side is coming out of their mouths faster than can be reported, compared to the other, somewhat saner side.

You want journalists that call out crap when they see it or make it so that both sides have an equal amount of crap called out and we just gloss over the rest? one will be seen as "unfair" and "bias" and the other will be seen as "fair" and "balanced". The latter also isn't journalism, the former is

ongbok: Lost Thought 00: ongbok: Lost Thought 00: Why on God's green Earth would he go on Maddow? What did he think was going to happen?

Maddow did nothing to him, she just let him talk. He did it to himself.

With that being said, you know his base viewed this very differently from how normal people did. They were all probably clapping and cheering him on, claiming that he suck it to the Liberals.

She challenged him slightly, and that seemed to cause his brain to short-circuit. He wouldn't have had the same break down on Fox or CBS. But yes, this will not harm his electoral prospects one bit. His party's larger goals, perhaps, but not his personal ones

She didn't challenge him in the slightest, she just asked him to explain the shiat that was falling out of his mouth.

To be fair, he couldn't do that...not "wouldn't",  actually "couldn't" do it.

Geez man, why not just be honest about what you were trying to say with that half-coherent pile of question dodging:

"I actually have no idea what I'm talking about, and was completely full of shiat when I called Maddow a cheerleader. I have no reason to actually believe that, I just desperately want it to be true. Now excuse me while I masturbate to racist caricatures of our president while using my tears over the GOP's long term electoral prospects as lube."

Being citical a few times and spending 99% of your time just going attacking the "other" side pretty much makes you a cheerleader. Just like the clowns at fox.
I can't blame her too much because it is basically a mob mentality. When you are surrounded by people who wear their badge of bias like an honor you can't help but be sucked into it. And that is the most disappointing part, because she is very VERY smart but unfortunately she goes for the low hanging fruit and overwhelmingly only points out the "others" faults.
But I guess if that is your cup of tea than or your "team" than I guess you are offended that this.

There really isn't much other reason for their hatred of the man that makes any sense. He's done nearly everything Republicans have been talking about doing for the last 50 years, with the exception of privatizing Social Security and the Postal Service.

I used to feel the same way, then realized "the reasons for their hatred make sense" is an unwarranted assumption.

I think a lot of it is excessive compartmentalization - the same thing that allows the right-wing reality bubble to exist. Given the heroic levels of compartmentalization required to simultaneously believe the usual Obama memes (empty-suit dictator Muslim radical Christian most-liberal-Senator etc.), it ceases to make sense to those of us who expect reality to be self-consistent.

And people in this thread will see this, realize that people like him control the country, and still not vote. Instead, they'll stay home and let the motivated crazy voters decide who should be in charge. That's what happened in 2010, and I fear it will happen this year.

Know how I know you never actually watch her show?

But congrats on turning this into a discussion on Maddow's partisanship, rather than what's actually important, which is the incoherent Republican buffoon elected to Congress babbling about authoritarianism (based on Obama writing fewer executive orders than any other president in over a century), and half-baked conspiracy theories.

Yammer all you want about the faults of liberals, when it comes to pants-on-head-retarded crackpots stammering out revisionist history, conspiracy theories, and nonsensical word salads, Democrats and liberals just give them an hourly show, or make them a "correspondent", while Republicans elect them to political office and give them the power to craft law that will affect thousands if not millions of people.

I always love the (bias) passion of you far right and left folks. Luckily you don't represent the majority of people but you always have the majority of online comments.

Oh ffs, another one?  Are there really that many people who can't fathom the concept that a person can be critical of one side of a conflict without also being an ardent supporter of their opposition?  If I say that I don't like McDonalds, that doesn't mean I love Burger King or Wendy's, it just means that I don't farking like McDonalds.  Criticizing the GOP for the stupid shiat that they do and say does not magically mean that you farking love Obama or the Democrats.  It just means you don't farking like what the GOP is doing.  Is that really a difficult concept to understand?  If I say that you're a complete and utter moron, does that mean I'm a "cheerleader" for everyone else in this thread?

soporific: TDWCom29: Laugh all you want at this guy, but people like him control half of the legislative body and have basically crippled our government's ability to do anything. And there's a 50/50 or so chance they could take the Senate too. So till they're gone, joke's really on us.

And people in this thread will see this, realize that people like him control the country, and still not vote. Instead, they'll stay home and let the motivated crazy voters decide who should be in charge. That's what happened in 2010, and I fear it will happen this year.

Not voting is a vote for the Tea Party.

Or they'll vote for some third-party candidate because they're "tired of the status quo", thus further helping the GOP and Tea Party gain power.

Bartman66: JusticeandIndependence: someonelse: DrBenway: Note to self: Never EVER call Rachel Maddow a cheerleader.

I think she was aghast because she has been very critical of the Obama administration at times. For him to call her a cheerleader was just plain idiocy.

I think she was offended by the actual thought of being a cheerleader period.

lol
Being citical a few times and spending 99% of your time just going attacking the "other" side pretty much makes you a cheerleader. Just like the clowns at fox.
I can't blame her too much because it is basically a mob mentality. When you are surrounded by people who wear their badge of bias like an honor you can't help but be sucked into it. And that is the most disappointing part, because she is very VERY smart but unfortunately she goes for the low hanging fruit and overwhelmingly only points out the "others" faults.

Why didn't you just say, "I've only seen about five minutes of her show, and that was three years ago, so I really don't know what I'm talking about."
That kind of honesty goes a long way
