Can't we just take a flying trip over New Zealand?

I always thought that was the ultimate goal of LOTRO.  Last I heard, they have only made as far south as Rohan.

Kind of looks like Cyrodiil.

Didn't they do this in Minecraft already?

They should use Second Life, or the OpenMetaverse version. It's really pretty fun, you should see my awesome tardis.

I'd love to see Kerbal Space Program get to that level of detail on planets sometime in the next decade.

Meh.

Do the same for the world of the  Hyborian Age and I'll be interested - Howard fleshed out the details of his world more than Tolkien ever did.

They could save a lot of time and do Arrakis.

I'd like to see random UFO encounters, too. To add some mystery and creepiness to the game... Which it probably doesn't need. But a mod that gave you a chance to make first contact would be cool.

A "Rendezvous with Rama" kind of encounter would be awesome.

Can I go underwater and take a look at the ruins of Beleriand?

"Note there's no game to it. All you can do is fly around taking it all in. But even that's a blast. "

They're still working on it. Last I saw, they had done everything from the Shire to Rohan, and were preparing for Minas Tirith.

Add a good VR visor and a treadmill/stairmaster sort of thing, and you could hike your way from Bag End to Minas Tirith.

Holodeck 1.0.

If you haven't seen Top of the Lake, do so. If only for the New Zealand landscapes.

It's not a bad murder mystery either. Hints of Twin Peaks/Blue Velvet. but without (unfortunately) any of the quirky humor.

By all accounts, that could be found at the wild parties in Mirkwood or Rivendell.
