No problem, Val. Just do something nice for the drowning-in-blood contractor.

Not saying that Putin is a particularly nice person. But I don't necessarily think "exiled Russian businessman" when I think "person who has no agenda and should be believed".

Nah, you got the man all wrong, there's no need to worry about him.  Bush Jr. checked Putin out himself during the Solvenia Summit in 2001 and had this to say about him:

"I looked the man in the eye...I was able to get a sense of his soul. He's a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country and I appreciate very much the frank dialogue and that's the beginning of a very constructive relationship."

And as we all know, W. is about as close to infallible as we are going to get in this cray-cray world.

A Putin vs. Cheney super-villain battle could be a pretty good film premise.

No wonder Romney thinks him the superior president. Probably would have had one installed directly under a trap door in the Oval Office had he won.

Of course, another possibility is that Mitt could be selling Puter the blood from his old fetus disposal operation, Stericycle. May have just been schmoozing the client back when he said that.

Pretty much true, once you realize Putin considers himself as Russia. Not necessarily a good thing, though.

I loved John McCain's comment on that: "I looked into (Putin's) eyes and all I saw was 'KGB'." The old man can really nail it once in a while.

FTA: The International Olympic Committee says the allegations of corruption are the responsibility of the Russian government, and outside its jurisdiction.

Well of course they are. The likely-hood the IOC is getting some under the table payments from the alleged corruption has nothing to do with it!

Morozov's allegations, first made public in 2010, are part of chorus of allegations that the Sochi Olympics will be the most expensive and most corrupt ever.

I'm thinking it's about time they made corruption an official Olympic event.

You're right. The businessman he had sent to the Gulag, the spy he had poisoned with polonium, Pussy Riot...all those people certainly should also be viewed with great suspicion when they say Putin is an evil sonofabiatch and ought to be treated like a cobra with rabies.

Sorry. Putin is Stalin reincarnated. The idea that anyone who says bad things about him is only doing so because they don't like him and so shouldn't be believed is like saying Hitler was a nice guy because the only people who spoke against him were in death camps.

Drowning someone in their own blood is the easiest way, as you only need to slice their throat and hold them down facing up.

Drowning someone in a pool of blood from other people could also be easy if you use pints from the blood bank.

Killing that person's family and using their blood to drown that person is really doing something.

Most things in Russia are done in the most corrupt way possible.  Everytime they get called out on it, the front man for all of it Putin just looks into a camera says "Nah that's not how it is."

Everyone knows that's how it is.  No one is going to stop em though.  So it goes.

FTA: Nemtsov said he has documented evidence that huge amounts of an estimated $50 to $60 billion spent on Olympics projects has ended up in the bank accounts of well-connected Russian officials and businessmen.

Well, they probably own a huge chunk of the contractors. Can he document it being under the table, or is it all in the contracts and aboveboard like his detractor says?

Nice to see they have fully embraced capatalism, which quite frankly, is a better form of corruption, because at least a *teeny* bit of that money filters it's way back down. Unlike socalist corruption where you just get the good non ass-shredding toliet paper that no one else gets. The only way that filters down is what the kids can fish out of the open sewers.
