I love it when people play politics with things like this.  I mean, it's not as if anyone's going to suffer, right?  RIGHT?

/farking people need to resign.

At least ADM and Con-Agra still get their subsidies.

Republicans had sought even higher cuts but a two-year tussle with Democrats was brought to an end after a compromise was agreed that also included increasing a cap for the maximum subsidy payments that can be awarded to individual farmers from $50,000 to $125,000.

Republicans demanded HIGHER cuts to food stamps. They relinquished those demands when the Democrats increased a cap on subsidies from $50,000 to $125,000.

Now this, being part of the larger farm bill, will pass the House and Senate, and get signed by Obama.

Whose fault is all of this?

"The cuts to federal food stamps come on top of a $5bn cut in November and will reduce payments to 1.7 million of the poorest Americans by an estimated $90 a month."

When pressured for a response, Republican congressman declared: "That's less then a midweek two hour lunch. What's the big deal?"

That's a funny way of spelling "be hanged in the streets for crimes against the people."

Food stamps are a back door subsidy for them.

They aren't happy about this.

Listen:

If you're THAT concerned that some welfare queen might eat a f*cking lobster, spend MORE money and improve controls so the undeserving won't get what they shouldn't have.

So this is a 12% cut from a program that has increased by 135% over the last five years?
/Just wanna make sure my maths are correct.

Is it just me, or did yesterdays SOTU speech by obama unhinge the republicans even more than usual?

Look at you yanking pennies out of a poor man's pocket and crowing that you're fiscally responsible.

So an individual on food stamps today is receiving 35% more food stamps than they did 5 years ago?

You seem awfully sure that this will pass the Senate, or that Obama won't just light the bill on fire on nation television going 'Are you shiatting me, Congress?'

Yup. Big ag needs a market, too, and killing food stamps is a hard, swift one right to the nuts of that market. Can't sell a product and stay in business if nobody can afford it, and that includes food. That's a lesson from the Depression that shouldn't  ever be forgotten.

Crap like this is why the AFB may end up backing the Dems this year.
