What about ornithopters, subbie?

Until battery technology gets way better, these will only be novelties that can fly with a tether.

Just keep the hallucinogenic venom out of them please.

Any clever farkers know the energy density of a battery vs various sugars? Maybe we need to give them tiny bioreactor tummies and teach them how to suckle at flowers.

I mean, we're killing off all the real bees. Maybe they can spy on diplomats and pollinate crops at the same time.

Without knowing the chemistry, I can promise you we can't do that yet. Our biotic/bionic technology is really terrible. We can't do any kind of synthetic organic hybrid at a level much more complex than 'lop off the farker and stick a pegleg on it'. Our pegleg is getting more advanced, but we certainly can't create a synthetic life form capable of fueling itself off sugar, yet.

I watched an NCIS recently where people were being killed over "some big secret research project from the 60s". Turns out the idea was hybrid biological-machine insects that would reproduce in the field and mess shiat up in Vietnam. It was one of the dumbest possible ideas for a secret, as we don't even have the technology NOW to do anything like that, let alone in the 60s. Still not as bad as when they hide files in video game consoles and they have to play a video game to access the damn file. Because that's a thing.

Glucose seems to be higher than a lithium ion battery.

Charles Bartowski nods.

Never heard of the EcoBot series, have you? Granted, they are very slow, but they actually work.

Microturbines. The energy density of gasoline is way better than sugar, and there are prototypes for turbine engines the size of a quarter.
