China White Tea: abhorrent1: saw 930 gallons of Jägermeister consumed

I'm calling BS. No bar is going to have 200+ bottles on hand.

Yeah, that number doesn't even remotely make sense.

2 oz per drink times six drinks on average is 12 oz per person.

12 oz times 800 people is 9600 oz.

That makes 75 gallons. They must have misplaced a decimal point or something.

Slaxl: They're students. This is why they go to university, to practice and learn. Do professionals in other fields go up to university students learning a subject and shiat all over them? No. Also stop pretending you can drink. You're Americans, everyone knows Americans can't handle their drink. Just look at the Fark outage picture, hardly anything has been drunk and he's passed out and the site is down. That's real amateurism.

Hey,  don't bunch us with the rest of you.

McGrits: I went to college before red bull* existed so we mixed our Jaeger with rumplemints. Called them Two Dead Nazis. Related to the three wise men and the four horsemen.

*red bull did exist but it was a malt liquor and named to destinguish it from the blue label malt liquor.

That is incorrect. Red Bull is a Thai energy drink and always has been. Has nothing to do with malt liquor.

danno_to_infinity: Jager.  Cough syrup for barflys.

Naah, when I need a good cough syrup, I reach for the appropriate -jager...

I'm getting a kick because Jager has never given me a terrible night. Only good nights.

Try 1 shot of Jager and 1.5 of amaretto into a glass of Dr. Pepper. It's fantastic.

jxb465: I never understood why people drink jager. The liquor in jager is no more or less potent than any other liquor just because it tastes like the inside of a hippie's ass, or at least what I presume the inside of a hippie's ass would taste like.

Don't pretend you don't know what the inside of a hippie's ass taste like....we all know that taste.

Right?

lordargent: 2KanZam: The somewhat low alcohol content of jager (35%) is not worth the horrible cough syrup flavor.

Low compared to what?

Vodka is 40%

// I think the flavoring serves to mask just how much liquor you're actually drinking

// and it's not like romana sambuca, which is 42%, because that stuff is so thick and sweet that you're not going to be downing shots of it.

#1 I said somewhat low...the average abv for most true distilled spirits (liquors) is 40-45% but you'll find that most liqeurs run about 20-35%, but at least Puckers taste good.  Utimately Jager (liqeur) has a low abv compared to liquors...but in the genre of liqeurs it is high abv and highly gross.
#2 One cannot oversimplify to state "vodka is 40%" when there are plenty of 100 proof (50%) and higher vodkas out there, but yes, the one I keep is 40%
#3 I often drink corn whiskey in the 55-60% range typically, so comparitively 35% is low since it is approaching half strength of my normal spirit.

The overall point is...it is so gross that it ought to be higher abv to make up for the flavor, plus the whole "jager gets me so farked up" annoys me because umm, no it doesn't. Not anymore than most liquors.

Jager is liquor with training wheels intended for college students. Oh, and did I mention it is gahross!

/If I am gonna drink licorice- I will drink my water (charleston wv) or Araq (40-60%)

dittybopper: Let's see, that's an average of 5000/800 = 6.25 drinks per person.  Six drinks in a night?  Meh.

Were you drunk when you read TFA?

Professor Paul Wallace, the chief medical adviser for Drinkaware, said: "Caffeine can reduce the sedative effects of acute alcohol consumption, inducing a state referred to as "wide-awake drunk".

Nana's Vibrator: The number was 4,764, making the average 5.955.  5.955 half-cans of Red Bull with a 30ml Jagermeister shot, over the course of a night?  *blink*  So?

vudukungfu: dittybopper: Let's see, that's an average of 5000/800 = 6.25 drinks per person.  Six drinks in a night?  Meh.

each drink has 2 oz of alcohol, so 12.5 oz.

"When we allow booze to be sold cheaper than water we have a very serious problem."
Yeah, we do, but it's not with alcohol, it's with people paying £10 for a bottle of luxury water, allowing everyone to claim something is more expensive than water.

I'm Irish, not American.

Has anyone discussed the laxative properties of jagermeister?  Or am I alone in experiencing that delightful side effect?
