My favorite part is when he glanced at the camera, some small functional part of his brain firing and telling him that he was farking up big here....  and he ignores it because bully is just too strong an impulse for animals like him to resist.

Wait, where did we get to the point that offering a mere House Rep free press time in front of a camera was the congressperson doing the news agency a favor?
I realize that the fourth estate has become more and more toothless and neutered, but have we already come this far? He's not even a senator, for crying out loud.

Of course he blamed the reporter, he was asking for it.

"I verbally took the reporter to task and told him off, because I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect, especially when I go out of my way to do that reporter a favor," Grimm said in a statement give to NY1.

I love how being open to the press and the public is a "favor" and not an obligation for an elected representative.

Yeah for real.  They should just act like a man and let him avoid the question completely and not demand he be held accountable.

It's 2014.  Reporters are supposed to read press releases as facts.  They don't get paid to ask questions.

I've always felt that freedom of the press is essential to a democracy.  More than freedom of religion, more  than the right to bear arms. etc.  This has become more and more infringed on by both parties.  This is how you keep the masses ignorant. This man should resign.

Yeah, that sounded more than a little gay. Not normal gay, oh no, not at all. Like "I'm gonna make you squeal like a pig" kind of gay. Like picking a young man up at the bar, taking him back to your place, lubing him up and buttfarking him, then tossing him out on the street naked kind of gay. A sick, twisted, self-loathing thing, where the only way he can get off is by thoroughly humiliating and dominating another man. Because his domineering wife regularly gives it to him hard and dirty with her vibrating Feeldoe Stout, while calling him Little Princess Ariel.

"I was annoyed. I was doing them a favor," Grimm told The Post. "The reporter took a cheap shot at the end and I verbally took him to task. I was angry and I had every right to be."

A former Grimm staffer told The Post that the congressman was a hothead who takes his rages out on journalists.

"Grimm has anger issues," the staffer said. "This is not the first time he's tried to intimidate a reporter."

Simple Battery, for goodness sakes.  He rushed the guy and made contact with him, while uttering physical threats.  The unwanted touching is clearly a Battery, and if the totality of the circumstances would put a reasonable person in fear of imminent harm, you've got Assault right there, too.

He should be in jail right now!  That poor little reporter showed far more bravery than the "marine" did -- responding reasonably and actually pursuing his professional agenda even while being pushed into and threatened with being PUSHED OVER THE BALCONY HE WAS STANDING AGAINST by a hulking suited thug.

This should not stand - Michael Grimm is a dangerous criminal who should be stripped of his government job, at the very least.

On the bright side, YAY, there's still something resembling real journalism left in the world!  I had no respect for the terminally boring "NY1" channel before this, but now I'm all about them.

mrshowrules: Elements of a threat based on the California Penal Code (not sure how different it would be in DC):

1. A person who willfully threatens to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person.
2. The person who made the threat did so with the specific intent that the statement, made verbally, in writing, or by means of an electronic communication device, is to be taken as a threat.
3. The threatening statement, on its face and under the circumstances in which it was made, was so unequivocal, unconditional, immediate, and specific as to convey to the person threatened a gravity of purpose and an immediate prospect of execution of the threat.
4. The threatening statement caused the other person reasonably to be in sustained fear for his or her own safety or his or her immediate family's safety.

As opposed to the Florida Penal Code:

1)  Walking while black
2)  Purchasing Skittles and iced tea

starsrift: Bloody William: Where does he get off physically threatening a reporter?

I don't mean in the first amendment sense, I mean in the sense of where does he get off physically threatening anyone? He looks more like a weener than ANTHONY WEINER. My mom could break him in half like a Kit-Kat. Which is an analogy that makes way more sense than "like a boy." I don't think you can play the alpha male card when you look like you just came back from your Bar Mitzvah.

Supposedly he was a marine, then became an FBI undercover agent.
I don't think he looks weak at all, though you don't get to see much and then there's the suit tailoring. But broad shoulders, square jaw.

Huh, so he was according to the Wiki.

Which makes those threats less funny, but even more wildly irresponsible.

Whenever I hear the term "disrespectful" or any variation thereof ("I was disrespected," for example), a geyser of unbridled contempt erupts from an uncharted part of my soul. I'm not exactly certain why that is, but I'm alright with it.

I kind of liked him when he came on the scene.  Then I bumped into him at a local Denny's when he was apparently on vacation here in Orlando with his family.  He was impressed I even knew who he was, and was really open with his time even though he was vacationing.  But the politicians you meet and greet, it seems, are rarely the real person they are.

At the time, his colleague Rep. Peter King was going berserk over the "ground zero mosque."  Grimm actually confided that he thought the issue was nonsense and King was demagoguing.

And from that meeting, it was all downhill.  And accelerating.
