So, yeah, we ran outta anything like original ideas several decades ago.

I don't have a problem with artists trying this kind of thing, but I do expect them to have a modicum of actual skill. This artist sucks.

He's halfway decent, but I think he went a bit much on shock value.

I do fully agree that we need a strong female character with a disability to allow handicap and disabled kids to connect with.

And while it wasn't a Disney production, that How to train a dragon movie, sorta touched on the disability angle by having the young character lose a foot during a battle.

When he wakes up, he finds he's been fitted with an artificial limb.

I'd vote for this thread to go green, I think this is a very interesting topic.

I think he meant physically handicapped Disney characters, not mentally handicapped.

Apparently the only kind of disability is either missing a limb or being in a wheelchair?
Seriously? This person could only think of 2?

Well, that was just stupid... unless you have a Disney Amputee Fetish, and I don't.

Sorry, Geoff Johns found it too hard to beat his dick to a wheelchair chick,, so she gets to magically walk again! Character development,? Out the window because a character dared to not be what it was like when the dumbass running the show was 12.

Gail Simone at least got to keep it as part of her backstory that she was crippled by the Joker, and there was some character development on that front.

But in the New 52 there IS Vengeance Moth of the Movement who is also in a wheelchair.

There are lots of limbless characters and dwarfs in the Arabian Nights. Hunchbacks, too.

Looking at the Cinderella one, I thought the point of an artificial leg was that you wouldn't need to use a wheelchair.

Also, are these drawings from 2002 or something? These reek of MS Paint.

Speaking of overused words, is it really discrimination if you just didn't think of it? Or do all characters from now on have to be blind/deaf/mute/transsexual/lesbian/mulattos with PTSD?

/The next Disney movie will focus on the Lesbian Eskimo Midget Albino Student Union and how the evil dean won't let them lower children into open manholes.

I thought all Disney princess's were disabled to start with...

Rapunzel is Hirsute (you wont believe how much shaving she does each morning)
Sleeping Beauty is Narcoleptic
Beauty has Battered Person Syndrome (Gaston, then Beast...)
Snow White is a sex addict (1 women, 7 men, dwarfs at that).
Ariel has Multiple Pet Acquisition Disorder (crab, seagul, fish...)
Most of the rest are Schizofrenic (they believe in magic)

Pocahontas i think was the only one without a "problem".

Remember when all this ridiculous shiat didn't bother anyone?  You know, that time when people weren't pissing themselves with anger because a Disney princess wasn't someone of color, or when the writers took the traditional route of making her a damsel in distress who needed a prince to come and save her, and no one got on a farking soapbox and engaged in spittle-flecked feminist rages about it because, after all, it was just a STORY and it was...hold on to your asses, everyone - this will shock you...our responsibility to understand what was reality and what wasn't?  Man, that was a sweet time.

Okay, fine...let's say it didn't bother nearly as many people as it seems to do now.

I'm all for gender and racial equality, no bias in regards to sexual orientations, depicting characters with physical, emotional and mental challenges, and all that happy horseshiat...but for fark's sake, we used to be able to take that personal stand without having to shoehorn it in for the sake of all these over-sensitive bags of piss and wind who can't help but biatch and beat their chests in offense about every damn movie or television character who's not portrayed to their liking.

If you're all for depicting diversity, why are you pissed that people push for it?

That's not a bad attempt, but it kind of looks like she was just drawn slightly differently. Down Syndrome doesn't leap to mind when I look at her.
