Anthony is like your catty friend, except really funny, and just as tactless. When you have kids, he's the friend who you spend less time with.

Sucks when your celebration of commercialism is interrupted by commercials.

Bourdain tries too hard to be cool.

I don't know, he really does know how to behave. Out of all of the travel show hosts, he probably understands the most about how to be a gracious guest without being condescending or pandering.

IMO, most of the people who hate on Tony just haven't spent much time watching his programs.

As much as i like AB, i could care less about his opinion on a music telecast or his taste in music.

True. I think he's a hoot and a guilty pleasure... just a PG-13 (or above) kind of guy.

I'VE watched all his programs and still hold the same opinion.

I guess what I have in mind is when he is in Japan, understands the dignity of a sushi restaurant. In Laos, he had dinner with a man that had a leg blown off by an American bomb that was just dropped during the Vietnam war to save jet fuel on the plane, and had a very deep conversation with him. In Haiti, he had the sense to ask if people like him are part of the problem.

In Nicaragua, he showed children digging in the garbage dump and almost broke down completely on camera. The guy isn't just a snarky tv host. He only comes off like that because a lot of crap in the modern world warrants it.

Clearly none of the people complaining are SNL fans. It was simply that they ran out of time for Lindsay Buckingham.

I understand what you are saying. However, it's still my opinion that he is just like any reality show. Mention cool, hip band that writers added in.

Nope.  The kids would call him Uncle and the wife would just grumble.

I like him.  Get past the sarcasm (much less trumped-up on CNN than it was on Travel) and you'll notice that he's actually respectful of the places he visits.  He's not for the thin-skinned.

Hey now.

We already have a food nerd that goes by AB because its his initials. You're gonna need to come up with a different moniker please.

I saw what you wrote and my mind went about 90 degrees to the left, going "And he's bringing up Alton Brown why exactly?"

Then I 'got it' but for a moment I was totes confuzzled.

Did you happen to catch the 2011 No Reservations where Anthony spent a week in the high desert with Queens' Josh Homme? They've been drinking buddies for a few years......Your opinion in this matter is quite flawed.

uh, I love QOTSA and Josh Homme. I've seen the episode. I liked him when he was in Kyuss. Anthony Bourdain May be a great chef. I've never said anything about his culinary prowess. I've always thought he 's a pop culture poseur.
