Mugato: Contrabulous Flabtraption: Boo hoo. How much do we have to give them until they're not needy anymore? Depriving the needy is what will drive them to better themselves.

But enough about the banks, State subsidized businesses and huge multi-nationals on corporate welfare...

That money will trickle down any day now.

Weaver95: so what happens when the poors do the math and realize the rich are 1. very small in number and 2. lack enough bullets to kill ALL of them at once and 3. have absolutely NOTHING to lose by bum rushing wall street and looting it down to brass tacks...?

I think a lot of people in this country need to remember that supporting a basic welfare state isn't necessarily about about "handouts" or even helping the poor; it's the "please leave the guillotines, torches, and pitchforks at home" tax.

It's not even a particularly expensive tax for how much security it buys. It's the bargain of a lifetime compared to the traditional pastimes like "running an army" and "surprise, it's yet another land-war in Asia!".

i'll bet the GOP will reconsider their support on gun ownership if/when that ever happens....

This. I'm still not convinced that the modern-day GOP's platform which is (a) I've got mine so FARK YOU and (b) unlimited weapons for everybody is going to work out in their favor in the long run, and I say that as a former GOP voter.
