Boo hoo. How much do we have to give them until they're not needy anymore? Depriving the needy is what will drive them to better themselves.

It's OK guys, there's always next year. As long as you had fun and made friends out there. That's what's important. Now who wants ice cream?

so what happens when the poors do the math and realize the rich are 1. very small in number and 2. lack enough bullets to kill ALL of them at once and 3. have absolutely NOTHING to lose by bum rushing wall street and looting it down to brass tacks...?

i'll bet the GOP will reconsider their support on gun ownership if/when that ever happens....

to be fair, Republican Jesus isn't even remotely christian.  he hates the poor, despises the sick and loves war and corporations.  so really, when the Republicans dick over the poor and then invoke jesus while doing it they really are being internally consistent with their beliefs.  they just forget to mention that they're not christian.

and how many unwanted spare engines have we bought?

i understand that gutting defense spending isn't a great idea either but killing a few weapons programs might really help fill in these holes. and would it hurt to charge cities for all the APCs and shiat we give them?

It all comes down to the fact that public assistance and welfare isn't demeaning enough.

Not that it's a walk in the park, but you see, all you need to do to get benefits is go into the welfare office.  A neutral third party will confirm your need and process the necessary paperwork.  No begging, pleading, or conditions (well, I guess there are a few of those) that can be arbitrarily set by our magnanimous ruling class.  No ring to kiss, no fealty to swear, no oaths to take or any way to demean them with the threat of cutting them off.  They need the money, they get it.  It's very hard for our betters to decide who "deserves" help this way.

Really?

We couldn't trim the billion's in corporate welfare a little?

Stop the tax breaks the wealthy have been enjoying for the past decade?

Allocate one quarter of one percent of the defense budget?

Close the loopholes that allow the richest 25% of corporations to pay no taxes?

This is just disgusting and repulsive.

Exactly. The corporations that pay for the Republicans will never ever agree to that under any circumstance.

Or the companies that pay for the Democrats for that matter.

Who cares?  You don't have to just kill the rich - that money will just pass to their children.  You'd also have to beat our ever-increasing military police-state, and if you even managed to make a dent in that, maybe not even a dent - a dimple, then you'd have the national guard and the eventually the real military to deal with.

The day after a poor kills a rich, the rich will quadruple their spending on private security, spend another billion to write a new law that imprisons anyone for even implying the rich should have to pay more taxes, and they'll all convene the following year in the Caribbean toasting themselves for heading off a true catastrophe.

This just adds proof that conservatives are really from an alternative universe! Really! All of their sensations and perceptions come from an alternative universe where the GOP really is a party of sane moderates and the Left is really a bunch of scheming communists. In the Conserviverse the labor reform movements of the late 1800s were crushed, leading to a communist voting bloc called the Progressives to emerge. Although they were minorities at the time, they slowly grew in strength, until the late 60s where they burst onto the scene and took a large part of the democrats. Thus, in the Conserviverse, the liberals are oppressive pseudo-socialists while the conservatives are the last bastions of American democracy. Study it out!

It's a failure to Americans regardless of party affiliation.

In all reality the "commie liberals", "teabaggers", "tree huggers" and many others are divided by wedge issues introduced by the same people that claim to represent us. The statement "United we stand, divided we fall" is based on "we" as Americans, standing together, not elected representatives deciding who should fall based on their campaign contributions.

What's disgusting and repulsive is voting for politicians who claim the authority to redistribute the nation's wealth, and then being shocked when they take from those without influence and give to those with influence.

it's not about solving their problems.  its about desperate people pushed into a corner with no hope for any sort of future.  the GOP is trying their level best to make that situation a reality, and if they manage to succeed, we WILL get another revolution.

It is truly mind-boggling that either party supports cuts when preserving SNAP and other programs placate the serfs and keeps the elite's (empty) heads from being separated from their shoulders.  Nine billion is less than what is spent monthly on the Iraq and Afghanistan misadventures, and those are woefully understated government numbers.

What's 9 billion to a government that literally prints money to keep its bankrupt ass afloat?  The only viable alternative would be to raise the minimum wage to something approaching livable, but the pitchforks of the poor are not as sharp as the fiat dollars of the Wal-Marts.

I think a lot of people in this country need to remember that supporting a basic welfare state isn't necessarily about about "handouts" or even helping the poor; it's the "please leave the guillotines, torches, and pitchforks at home" tax.

It's not even a particularly expensive tax for how much security it buys. It's the bargain of a lifetime compared to the traditional pastimes like "running an army" and "surprise, it's yet another land-war in Asia!".

Like I said in the other thread that got red-lit as I was posting...crap like this is  exactly why the AFB and big ag may end up breaking ranks with the GOP this year.

Can't sell a product if nobody can afford it, and that includes food. That's a lesson from the Depression  no one should have forgotten. Food stamps, due to padding the market for food, keeps agribusiness going.

2014-01-29 05:15:24 PM
As I said in the other thread, Big Ag loves Food stamps, cause Big Ag is who grows and sells the farking food.

They can't be happy with this continued assault on their bottom lines....
