Mr. White is losing control as the sport continues to grow.

Having only one guy run the entire sport is bad for it. Dana is dangerously close to becoming the Stienbrenner of MMA.

It would help a great deal if the smaller promotions were more competant and worked on promoting young up and comers instead of trying for name recognition.  Looking at you Bellator.

Except in reality, where just the opposite is true. Bellator in its current state is the weakest #2 in a decade, and now UFC also controls the (newly popular) wimminz. Factor in their global TV expansion and online streaming library, and Zuffa's --and, by extension, Dana's-- power grip on the sport is BY FAR at its most powerful.

Ok, how much of that (and I don't dispute a word) is he able to have real hands on control?  You know more than I do and my comment sprang from TFA and a couple of others that were not UFC mouthpieces.

greg jackson is a dink. look at how he discarded rashad evans to hitch his wagon to bones instead. look at clay guida's unwatchable gameplans. there is no 'greg jackson vs. dana white.' and for everybody who loves to shiat on dana--yes, he's a blowhard, full of shiat 99% of the time, and does lots of shiatty things (cutting okami, etc)--he happens to be by far the leasy shady promoter in combat sports. that says more about the requisite shiattiness of boxing and mma promoters than it does about him, but mma could be in much, much, MUCH worse hands

TLDR

Jackson is one of the most annoying figures in MMA.  If you want to rip your ears off, watch Joe Riggs' last fight on the Fightmaster reality series.

Although, I disagree with those who say that he creates boring fighters.  Condit has been a Jackson fighter from day 1.  Diego Sanchez came from the Jackson camp as well.

The worst of those comments from Dana came after the cancellation of UFC 151. And honestly a little bit of me agreed with Dana at the time, it would've been nice of Bones to save the card. Jackson doesn't bother me, look what he's done with Cub Swanson. Cerrone, Jones, Condit, they are all finishers.

Enjoy the UFC dominance while it lasts. We get the top guys fighting the top guys, not the ducking that goes on in boxing.

I'm immune to Jackson after listening to the unlistenable Keith Florian.  Jackson sounds like Stephen Fry mixed with Alan Rickman compared to Keith Florian.

Anyway, good article.  You don't see much about the behind-the-scenes stuff from the coaches' points of view.

It was certainly a good read.  The one thing that concerns me about Jackson is the potential for his camp to get too big.  It's not a very likely scenario, however, so as long as he keeps cranking out good fighters he can do whatever he wants.

New Mexicans can scrap. Simple enough.

The biggest mistake Elite XC and Strikefarce made was trying to bill themselves as equals to the UFC. They should have admitted earlier that they were 2nd tier orgs. Affliction had a deep heavyweight division but it was really never going to be anything other than Fedor vs the UFC's cast offs.

Interesting that those guys are predominantly strikers, which is Winklejohn's responsibility at Jackson's. I'm not saying I totally agree with the "sport killer" business, just saying it's interesting.
