bhcompy: Writerly Redoubt: You know, Prohibition didn't work then, and it doesn't work now. Realize your mistakes. Legalize nature. Decriminalize and delegitimize d-bags, all. The change is in your hands. Phalanges engage.

Prohibition of alcohol didn't work after it was legal and widespread and then made illegal.  There is no comparison to be made here, as the situation is fundamentally different.  Using a poor base for your argument only provides a disservice to your cause, and I say this as someone who really doesn't give a shiat one way or the other

There are plenty of comparisons to be made here, and your insistence that they're not here leads me to believe you do, indeed, have a horse in this race, so please lie to someone who gives two shiats what you think. Thank you.

destrip: Seat-belt laws are idiotic, too. This (a pretext for cops to stop and fark with you), not "your safety," is their main purpose, and is why cops are so eager to enforce them. They could care less about your safety. They just want arrest/ticket numbers.

Plus, they spawn asinine phrases such as "click it or ticket." I'd be less peeved if the propaganda mills simply broadcast the sound of nails scratching a chalkboard.

I am harrassed all the time in my 1962 Chevy for not having a seat belt on...because the car didn't have them...the cop told me to get them installed pronto because now it is illegal to have a car without seat belts.

So you're saying that prohibition of cannabis is working well? From where I sit, it looks like it is functioning in a very similar manner to the alcohol prohibition, which also didn't work.

People continue to have access to the banned substance: Check

Profits are primarily benefiting illegal organizations (gangs): Check

Cops can't do squat to stem demand: Check

If you're gonna make that claim, show your work.

that didn't used to be the case, but i haven't kept up on the laws

that's the exception to my always wearing a seat belt rule.  if you've got a real cool old car, then i'll excuse you for being a projectile in the night

especially if you're also smoking and wearing sunglasses

The percentage of people using alcohol at the time of prohibition is uncomparably higher than the percentage of people using marijuana at the time of prohibition.  The situation leading to prohibition, the reaction to it, and everything else that goes with it are two completely separate situations with two completely separate narratives that in no way compare.

You obviously have an inflated sense of self worth if you think that I give even one shiat what you do with your body

Both of you morons obviously can't read nor comprehend each others words. Put the pipe down and STFU, both of you.
