Wow, look at the photos from this event. So many people showed up, and they surrounded the Capitol!

"We have 1.8 million definite militia members coming," promises Operation American Spring spokeswoman Karen Smith

Even using the Glenn Beck attendance inflation constant, that's still at least 45 people.

I'm curious if these people just make up some date in the future, close enough to be relevant but far enough away that most people will forget, because they know this thing will never happen and want to dip below the media radar because of our national ADD with news

Two days later, somewhere between a few hundred and a thousand demonstrators convened on downtown Washington for the "Million Vets March."

Might have to adjust your expectations a little I guess.

In October, the "Truckers Ride for the Constitution" rally, led by a hodgepodge of conservative truck drivers, was held outside Washington, with the aim of arresting House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.). Organizers expected thousands of people to attend. Thirty truckers showed up, led by a woman who believes that Obama and Osama bin Laden are the same person. ("They have same height, bone structure, hands and ears both are left handed," she noted in a YouTube comment).

Missed the mark by a mile on that one.

In 2010, Kate Vandemoer, a birther activist, announced the Usurpathon, a "Rolling 'Velvet Revolution' to Remove the Usurper, et al," from office. The plan was to bring 10,000 protestors to the Mall, Congress, and the White House to lay siege to the administration. Two people showed up.

Comedy gold, Jerry!  Comedy gold!

They'll protest outside the White House by day and set up in campgrounds and RV parks outside the city by night.

ugh.  the traffic here is bad enough already.  also, the area right outside the city isn't exactly rife with campgrounds and RV parks.

Sometimes I wish these "2nd Amendment Solution" idiots would go through with it.

An armed attack on Washington DC by a bunch of arm-chair tigers with AR-15s wouldn't last long, as soon as the actual US Military was called in to protect the Capitol.

Then we'd be rid of the morons.

I live in the Florida panhandle where this guy is from. Sure there's nice beaches, but this place is a toxic concentration of fear, crazy, racism, ignorance and butthurt.

"We have 1.8 million definite militia members coming," promises Operation American Spring spokeswoman Karen Smith. (The Anti-Defamation League pegs the number of American militia members at about 20,000.)

This is my favorite line.

They have to continually unskew the numbers.

"We have 1.8 million definite militia members coming,"

So that means you'll have 27 fatties in camo milling about awkwardly and going home by lunch.  Breitbart later uses a picture of another rally and proclaims it a success.

Why haven't these people learned to not cite attendance numbers in advance? I mean, it's keeping the archival photo/photoshop guy at Fox employed, but it just leads to embarrassment.

1.8 million? Really?

Yeah, but they're patriots and independent thinkers.  They might bring AR-16s or AR-17s, or whatever it takes.

The world has moved on. It's not full of white people anymore. It's not praying to Jesus anymore. It's not a chorus section praising everything White America does around the globe.

And taking out your butt-hurt on the duly-elected POTUS isn't making you look good in anyone's eyes except maybe those of your in-bred, cross-eyed, two-headed cousin.

This is going to be another one of those things where 30 people from Chicken Neck, TN show up in the capitol, get lost and spend the next 3 hours wondering around the area texting each other, isn't it?

"We have 1.8 million definite militia members coming."

Oh, you do not. Just stop. Leaving aside the militia bit (because most of us are technically members of the militia), this is simply not going to happen. It's absurd.

The likelihood of 1.8 million people descending upon the capitol for this event is only slightly more likely than an army of Jennifer Lawrence skinjobs from Eridani revealing themselves the day before and farking us all to a sweet, happy death.

Oh no!  I'm sure that DC police and homeland security are gearing up for this invasion.

You know, teabaggers would be a whole lot funnier if they just wouldn't allow them to vote.  For example, when my mother was so far gone with dementia/Alzheimer's that she stopped recognizing people, I stopped bringing in her absentee ballots.  Your relatively intelligent teabagger would be slightly below my mother at that stage.

They meant 1.8 million pounds of militia members, so 15 or 16 guys should do it.

Don't tell them that! The highlight of these things is when, you know, like thirty people show up and instead of getting themselves organized or chaining themselves to a gate or chanting or waving their signs or making impassioned speeches, they spend two hours milling around the planned meeting site trying to find the main group. Eventually it dawns on them that they are the main group, but please, let them have that sad little discovery on their own. Don't spoil the surprise!

American Christians have not proven themselves worthy of his direct intervention, because they haven't fought hard enough against things like gay marriage. No, really; they seem increasingly unhinged because they're worried that the actions of their countrymen are damaging their standing in the eyes of God.

No one genuinely believes in divine omnipotence.  They all imagine agency for themselves.
