"It was like an explosion," Burke said. "I thought, 'Dear God, don't let it be gas.'"

I don't miss being married.

Some old woman mistook one pedal for the other a few Weekends ago, and drove her little SUV into our neighborhood bar.  (The Parkview Tavern on No. Carrollton - from which I am proudly barred for life.)  Smashed an eighty year-old pair of huge antique panes of glass, crushed a couple poker machines, and scattered some tables and chairs.  Luckily, nobody was there yet.  She was about fifteen minutes early, and missed the opportunity to slaughter a crowd.

Anyways, how the heck does someone do that?  Can you imagine, you're twisted around in the driver's seat, looking out the back window for passing traffic, and then you see a clear spot and hit the gas, and off you go into the farmer's market.

WTF.

A better advertisement for Ireland I've never seen. Of course, if she really is Irish, trying to take that beer from her would result in her chumming the water with your remains.

Strange there was no mention of the driver's BAC (or refusal to blow into breathalyzer). One would assume that "suspicion of DUI" would be uppermost in the minds of the cops.

My guess is that he actually blew well under the limit and the cops are disinterested in releasing anything that might possibly work in his favor.

There 'might' be structural damage on the first floor but it's okay to use the rooms on the second floor? I'm no engineer but isn't the second floor supported by the first floor?

The fuel doesn't burn hot enough by itself to melt the supports. You'd need additional chemicals or a cruise missile.

Oh man, you're going deep. Are you saying there wasn't any fuel and it was a controlled demolition? What do you know that you're not telling us?
