Base jumper "fails"  to arrive at canyon floor"

FTFE

Would not the fail tag suffice, then, Failmitter?

It would appear to be raining men.

No, I think he made it to the canyon floor.

You think wrong.

Not the fall, it's the sudden stop.

Is there a doctor in the area?

Dumbass and fail tags splattered over the canyon floor?

2014-01-27 08:23:08 PM
Sad tag is inappropriate.  The dude jumped off a cliff. He knew the risks.

Cheers to him for dying doing what he enjoyed, not all of us get that.

2014-01-27 08:27:02 PM
Did a large bird snatch him up on the way down?
/Off to read the article.

He died doing what he loved: screaming in terror as he plunged onto rocks and was smashed to death.

On the good side, he never made it to the floor which means that he was not the last one down and thus, is not a rotten egg.

He had no chance to survive.

Why the sad tag? He died doing something he wasn't very good... I mean love doing.

Base jumper arrives at canyon floor just fine with help of gravity.

At least he died doing what he loved - except the last few seconds part.

2014-01-27 08:39:39 PM
So he threw himself at the ground, and missed?

Someone find that clip of Homer Simpson's skateboarding mishap.

FTA: Stather's death is believed to have been the result of fall trauma but the Coconino Country Medical Examiner has launched an investigation.

Wow. I'd think this would be what is known as a "no brainer".

He enjoyed screaming and pissing himself while falling to certain doom?

Never understood that saying. I would rather live doing what I enjoyed.

A 41-year-old respirologist from Calgary is dead following a Friday afternoon fall during a wing suit jump from the edge of the Grand Canyon in Arizona

Oh no, he didn't miss.

I'm guessing you've never seen photos of, or been to the Grand Canyon?

You don't have to make it to the bottom of the canyon to hit something that will arrest your progress.

Or internal organer, or skeletal structurer, or....

"Helicopters were unable to retrieve Stather on Friday evening, due to darkness, but an Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter returned to the area on Saturday morning."

They should adopt the same policy as they have for the idiots who attempt to climb Everest, you die up there you stay up there. Hopefully they charged the family for the retrieval.

In other words he slammed into the canyon wall like a bird into a window. His 'chute probably got stuck on something and prevented him from doing an encore on the canyon floor.

Course they don't actually come out and say what happened. Probably trying to be all sensitive or something and can't figure out a nice of saying dude was wall pizza.

/has no such restraint

A moment of enlightenment:  It's "BASE" jumping not Base.  It's an acronym.  Stands for Bridge Antenna Span Earth.

They found the brain after some additional searching,  a little here,  a little there..

/good thing the article has a helpful picture of what a grand canyon may look like.

Actually, there are a lot of dead bodies on Mount Everest that are left there because it is nearly impossible to bring them back due to the conditions. The dead bodies are also used as waymarkers; one famous dead body is known as "Greenboots". Nepal isn't going to send up a sherpa team to get your ass; hell they even leave their own.

His death will leave a large hole in the medical community. Or the wall. Something like that.

The B stands for building. A span is a bridge.

Too bad he was a respirologist and not a neurosurgeon or orthopod with a better understanding of what a bad idea this is.

Why are so few farkers not getting this reference? OK, it is not Hitchhiker"s Guide, but is in the series.
