But otherwise...she's just like you!

The only I drive a car anywhere is because of my economic circumstances.  Could I afford it I would have a driver for damn sure.  Or, if I lived in a place where walking and public transport could meet most of my needs I doubt I would drive much.

I doubt that many people like her do.  Just the potential for scandal if you get into a wreck would be enough of a reason to avoid it.

Maybe what_now put in a tape of The Macarena (which had fairly recently been on top of the charts) during their last time behind the wheel?

Um..

I swear to God, my BFF Lisa and I were listening to that tape about a week before my car got totaled.

She was First Lady before that and a senator after that. I assume that's normal.

Besides, one less female driver.

I don't really picture Mitch McConnell or Ted Cruz walking out to the parking lot to get behind the wheel of a 5 year old Chevy at the end of a long hard day of obstruction, either.

Boehner, of course, usually requires a designated driver anyway.

As the first lady...sure, I can see that, but as a Senator? How the hell does she get from her home to the office? She gets chaufered everywhere she goes?  Why I bet even evil Mitt Romeny drives occasionaly.

This. I don't think it's THAT odd to ask that the person who has more responsibility than me by about 1000000X be a tiiiitsch more on top of things than me.

The thing is, this is really something could cost her voters if she ran.

To be honest, even if there was something to Benghazi, and there was some proof of negligence on her part, it would still do less damage than the fact that she hasn't driven a car in 15 years.

This is how screwed up our voting population is.

She has Secret Service protection because of the thousands of illiterate death threats she gets every year.

HILLARY CLINTON: Oh, sure. I mean, you know, you make these choices based on imperfect information. And you make them to -- as we say, the best of your ability. But that doesn't mean that there's not going to be unforeseen consequences, unpredictable twists and turns.

You know, my biggest, you know, regret is what happened in Benghazi. It was a terrible tragedy, losing four Americans, two diplomats and now it's public, so I can say two CIA operatives, losing an ambassador like Chris Stevens, who was one of our very best and had served in Libya and across the Middle East and spoke Arabic.

somebody needs to tell her to stop talking about benghazi because it's not an issue and needs to be tossed into the dustbin of history.

Wanting a candidate who's "just like you" is just a convoluted type of anti-intellectualism propagated by the Bush presidency.

I don't want someone I can empathize with to be president, I want someone who can get the job done, period.  And Hillary will be running as that kind of candidate.  And yes there is a long way to go, but at this point, I don't see a legitimate rival on either side of the isle.

Mrs Clinton lost 2016 with two words back in 2008.  'Sniper' and 'fire'.

Not even that she said it once.  She invented the story.  And told it at least a dozen times.  And Sinbad said, "um, no, didn't happen that way". And thenshe extended and embellished on the sniper fire story.  Then someone found the video. And she further extended and embellished on the sniper fire story.

Is it a dumb bit of historical trivia? Sure. Meaningless. But, it's a simple concise and memorable (two words is all it takes) example of something we all can relate to (because we all did as 9-year-olds).  Devastating.

Don't get me wrong, if the Democrats nominated Satan and the Republicans nominated any of their current crop, I'd at least give a word of recommendation for the devil, but...

...I'm worried Hilary's too old. She'd be the second oldest person ever elected President (and the oldest women ever elected President) if she were to win. She'd be 70 when she took office, and things can go south very quickly in your 70s regardless of your general health. Like I said, I'd vote for her, but I'd worry her age would be a liability both in getting elected and in being an effective president.

The other concern about nominating Hilary is that it would drive the conservatives nuts - to the point that they'd have no problem getting out the vote.

That being said, there's no one else to nominate really. Joe's too old (though he'd make a damn fine President). Elizabeth Warren is only two years younger than Hilary and doesn't have the name recognition. I like O'Mally from Maryland...he's a possibility.

Candidates can be re-invented, you know. That said, I would hope that sensible liberals would realize that she's kind of whacked and definitely cracked under pressure during the 2008 election.

Most Senators and Reps do drive, at least on occasion. They often get to park in some handy places, too. But as has been mentioned, she and Bill have lifetime SS protection. Mitt Romney doesn't.

I did get a laugh once. I was just in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, and saw a piece of shiat tiny old early 90s Honda coming around the corner, rusting and falling apart, I look at the driver, and he's not only wearing a very nice suit, but one with the big gold lapel pin that represents a US Congressman. Still haven't figured out exactly who it was, I only got a quick glimpse. But it was very much not the kind of car you expect a congressman to drive.

No, I just meant the mentality itself. The "rugged American" driver bullshiat.

I'm sure having someone drive her around caused its share of backups, though.

A Presidential Bullet Train might be kind of cool, though.
