As mentioned in the comments, the glass floor/empty shaft under your toilet would help with "shiatting yourself" if you know...you are having issues in that area.

Otherwise, the only one I really want is the stair slide.

The last thing I want is sand under my desk. You'd track that everyone for one thing, and my cat would use it as a litter box, as well.

A lot of interesting designs, but very few of them are practical.

That swing set table looks like it would be annoying as f*ck.

I like the bookcase/stair-case. Also, the see-through bath-tub tickles my fancy.

Thats the first thing I thought. When i'm working/playing on the PC, I get up enough times that you would get sand everywhere.  And those floors around it in the picture are hardwood, so you run the risk/certainty of scratching it all up.

The ice cave one was due to a malfunctioning refrigeration unit. Hardly a design element.

The balcony pool would be pretty neat, but the logistics of such seem a bit OTT

Yeah, but think about cleaning the soap scum off of it.

IT'S NOT A FLAW! IT'S A FEATURE!

/Or something.

The balcony pool exists, it's been in the news off and on over the last 6 months. Can't remember where. Somewhere in Asia, I think.

I know, that really narrows it down, doesn't it?

Maybe it's having kids, but the balcony pool gave me the heebie jeebies. No rail?

The sand thing is beyond gross.

I like the beach, but the sand is the worst part.  To be always digging sand out from between my toes.. and from the floor, and from the bed, and everywhere is enough to drive somebody insane.

Those are all pretty cool. Of course the slides are cool. The guy who ised to own the company I worked for had one in his house that went from the hall outside the kids' room down to the kitchen.

I actually like the idea of the spiral wine cellar a lot, although I like it more as a pantry, which they are also using it for. The clear tub seems cool at first, but people are right, have fun keeping that thing clean.I also like the indoor/outdoor pool. The problem with the sand under the desk isn't tracking it around, IMHO, it's getting that chair in the right place, and then never moving it again because the wheels are totally locked up.

I'm not a cat person, but I think that the 2 cat transportation systems were the coolest.

2014-01-27 10:09:07 AM
I think the airshaft one is neat, but how many people happen to have an airsharft directly below their bathroom?

2014-01-27 10:11:41 AM
Ping pong doesn't work that way. Anyone who's played ping pong for more than five minutes has realized how much space is actually needed.

When I was in college, I built a cat ramp from a patio to my 2nd floor living room window so they could come and go as they pleased. It was pretty cool.

I am, but those look like such eye sores... And imagine having to constantly clean the outdoor one of leaves and other various shiat.

I suspect that if you can afford it, you are already paying someone to clean your abode.

Ain't that the truth, that list looks like a wish list for rich people or people with more disposable income than they know what to do with.

I'm think that's the point if the outdoor one being cages, most of what blows in will fall back out. The Indian one doesn't look like an eyesore to me, but you have to have th e right decor to match it...

Wow. Can't believe this went green. I've submitted far more interesting things over the years, but I'll take what I can get.

2014-01-27 10:59:34 AM
Some are cheesy (aquarium bed, ping pong door), many are just hipster bullshiat (sand desk, skateboard ramps), and about 2 or 3 are actually interesting concepts

I think the outdoor cages would still catch leaves, branches, twigs, etc. and just get all messed up, then the cat would track in some of the shiat or drink in some of the shiat. And I wonder what prevents the elements from getting in at the entrances/exits of those cages? Door flaps the cat uses? So heat/AC gets out? Bugs, lizards, and other things come in through as well?

I dunno, just another impractical thing to me, might be one thing if fully sealed, but what would you do if the cat wants to be a prick and not come out and stay in the middle... or worse, its old, goes out there to die...

It'll take a lot more than that before I cut back on the bourbon.

I would like to combine the Spiral Stair Slide with the Spiral Wine Storage.

2014-01-27 01:25:21 PM
The glass bathroom floor: oh hell no.  Imagine staggering into the bathroom drunk at 2:00 am and looking down.

What I really want is a bookshelf that opens into a secret passage, Clue-style.

This. Hell no. Ugh. I make it a point to pour water over my feet/legs to get the sand off before leaving the beach. Can't stand playgrounds, either.

Urine sand is the worst.

The bookcase stairs remind me of ReadOrDie the movie. The main character has so many books she even stacks them on the stairs. Those stacks nearly kill her too.

Exactly.  Whenever I see a fabulous stable and wish I had one, my practical husband reminds me how much work horses are.  I remind him that when I'm rich enough to get my fabulous stable I will be rich enough to afford a fabulous stableboy to go with it.

I've, ummm, seen that "movie."

This list should just be called, "Stupid shiat that rich, white people will buy. Oh, and it's also super fun and quirky."

I think the outdoor beach fire pit thing would be cool.  I just recently pulled out a deck in the backyard and tried to get the fiance to put this in, but he was having none of it.  It looks pretty simple, concrete  and tile, but what do I know?

Cause only rich white people have stupid shiat in their houses.

At first I thought the transportation systems were great! - and then I realized they were for cats, not kids. (Still wish I'd built one for the kids - looks as if the outdoor one would keep them (and their dirt) out of the house.)

The bookcase stairway? Nice idea, but ugh - the smell. Musty. Read 'em and pass 'em on, folks.

I love (the thought of) the wall that makes music when it rains. I love rain.

The airshaft bathroom is described here:  http://architizer.com/blog/pondering-existential-depths-in-this-verti g o-inducing-floor-less-bathroom/

I've seen (pictures of) indoor outdoor pools and fountains before and they are really cool but I wonder about mold and humidity in the rest of the place.

The idea of the bookcase stairs is nice, but I am not convinced by the execution. If you want to go down these stairs and start with the wrong foot, you are farked. That basically means you can't leave your room safely when you are drunk.

When click on articles from Fark that show how you can poop right over a really long shaft, this is not what I would generally think of.
